How Does One Get The Nation Newspaper Online?

I used to get it, no problem. Now I either get an old issue (March 2009ish) or a full page ad for a condominium - with no visible click to the newspaper site. Typing nationmultimedia.com gets me the full page ad, and adding /index.html gets me a 16 month old edition. I've tried 'refreshing' the URL, but to no avail. What gives? Do they have a new domain name?

wow, that's slick. Funnily enough, I googled the exact same thing, just moments before posting starting this topic. I clicked on the first three results, including nationmultimedia.com (which used to give me the current edition of the Nation newspaper - though sometimes it would give me a long-lasting advertisement, and then segue to the newspaper). However, the top 3 results left me in the same lurch I was in prior. In other words, I honestly cannot get the current edition of the Nation newspaper online. Perhaps it's an individual things, with my browser is stuck with some cookies-related problem, I don't know. But if it's not an individual problem with my computer, then there may be thousands of people in cyberspace who cannot access a major newspaper online. Interesting.

Either way, the Nation needs to get its act together - at least with their custom of placing full page commercial ads on their index page, which won't allow viewers to click to the newspaper itself.

http://www.nationmultimedia.com and click on "enter site" (top right hand corner).

or go directly to http://www.nationmultimedia.com/home/index.php

works for me everytime.

It works for you, but it doesn't work for everyone. Indeed, you may be among just a small minority it works for. Does the Nation know it has this sort of problem with its online presence?

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/home/ has to be one of the slowest loading sites I have found.

Hey, that is slick.

It loads very fast today. No problems.

I wrote in a different thread about problems with the Internet the last 2 or 3 days. Maybe that's why the website didn't load for some of you.

I must admit i often have problems with TV not opening properly. I usually wait a few minutes and the problem solves itself.

While I wouldn't normally be seen to be reading 'The Nation', out of interest and in trying to help OP in resolving his problem I had a go at the website. I didn't follow any links on here; in the spirit of scientific research I put the words 'Nation' and 'Thailand' in a search engine. The very first result took me to http://www.nationmultimedia.com/ so I went for that one. It has the "NATION" logo at the top left, a large advert for some condo crap front and centre, an 'update' for World Cup 2010 on the bottom right (Hello 'Nation' web designers - Spain won a week ago - anyone home???) and a link to "ENTER SITE" top right.

I weighed up all the options and went for the 'enter site'. It seemed the best bet, as I already knew who won the bloody footie, and I don't want a condo in the Big Mango. It took me to the site http://www.nationmultimedia.com/home/index.php - which works. It gives you the news. Well, sort of. But it is up to date.

So, to OP - if that doesn't work for you, you've got major cookie (or other) problems. Sack all those and then make sure your version of Firefox or Opera is the latest.

IE? What do you mean?

I realize what one problem was: my browser, Firefox/Mozilla, doesn't size the page to fit my computer monitor. Because of that, often the right side of a web page is cut off, unless I scroll to the right. Now that I know that, I get a clearer perspective, and can enter the Nation site.

There are a few other features of Firefox that were better in earlier versions than in later versions. Sounds like it's time for me to change to a better browser.

Glad that's cleared up.

Did you know if you click the scroll button on your mouse the cursor turns into a magnifying glass and the scroll wheel will then enlarge or decrease the size of the page. It does in my Firefox 3.6.6 anyway!

I just googled it and have no problem getting today's news. Loaded straight away too.

Yikes. Now Bkk Post is doing the same lame crap of giving you only a full page luxury item advertisement on their index page. After a couple minutes, I realized one needs to click the X in the lower left corner of the advert - in order to get the newspaper.

Thanks for the info on clicking the mouse button. One miniscule click, and the picture on my browser now fits the screen. Earlier, I had spent a heap of time trying to fix that on Mozilla.

It proves my theory about the internet: the more things develop (web pages, softeare), the more difficult and convoluted the internet becomes. The nerds doing the programming assume all users have state of the art equipment and have all graduated with honors from Geek 101.
