Young Kittens

Featured Replies

Sorry, somehow double posting due to slow internet speed.

whoops, look like someone deleted the wrong post. will quote it below for you

It looks like we will get a kitten soon, what's the best time to separate them from mother cat? I remember about 6 weeks as being acceptable?

When's the best time to bring them to a vet and get injections for them?

Any advise regarding this is appreciated.

Thanks Bratman and SBK.

At 4 weeks kittens start eating their first solid food, but mother cat's milk is still a significant part of their daily diet. A kitten separated this early will survive but is likely to keep some kitten habits (like sucking on your finger or clothes) well into adulthood. From my experience, 6 weeks is still a bit early for separation (but acceptable) while 7-8 weeks is just right.

Thanks Bratman and SBK.

How disappointing. I was expecting some cute pics......waiting....:whistling:
