Got one mate! A big washing machine box lined with foam and sealed.

Perfect! These days I have a dedicated brew fridge which will cool or heat my wort to the decided temp depending on style and season but I used to use a big box lined with foam. It was amazing how low and stable I could keep the temp just by placing a couple of bottles of frozen water in there each morning and evening.

I make home brew wine using the barrels that water is sold in, brought the bongs and bubble fermenter with me and a good supply of wine yeast last time i was home,

haven't made beer in years but the results of the wine is good both red and white, temperature is important for fermentation

a lot of patience is important as some wines take at least six months to 2 years to mature.

Hey BadLee,

I am also an avid real-ale drinker living in Pattaya. I am currently brewing all of my own beers and Im in the process of setting up my on AG home kit. Im trying to build it from bits and pieces which are easy to obtain here. I generally get my kits etc from the UK and Singapore. Ive just finished drinking a Woodfordes Wherry and Copers IPA (with personal tweaks... loads of Cascade hops mmmmm)... got a few more on the go now.

At present, Im working on a little project for all home brewers in Thailand. It is absolutely in the infancy stages. I am trying to get to grips with building a website etc. Its more of a hobby than anything else. I am hoping to set up a forum and resource pages to help bring together a community of people in Thailand with an interest in proper beer.

If anybody is interested in getting involved and helping to contribute towards the site (only information / ideas - no cash contributions) i would like to hear from you. I have the website / forum etc and if there are people who would like to get involved then please drop me a line on here.

The website is very basic at the minute. So if you are interested please PM me or respond here.

Look forward to hearing from you soon

Cascade,love it!

I just knocked up my first 2 AG brews, both SMaSH BIAB.

Brew 1 is 100% malted corn with Cluster.Only one gallon.

Brew 2 is barly tea(grain which was malted and roasted a bit too much for Korean tea) with 24gr of Cascade. Both are in primary still. Can't wait!

I am up for anything that may be of help to other like manded beer lovers.

So,for some strange reason I cant get to speak to the people at Gerbera House in Phuket.

Every time I call they say they will call back and dont!:annoyed:

So if anyone is there, pop in and have a look at the malt extract, would ya?:whistling:

Roasted barley is un-malted and is used as an adjunct grain in all-grain recipes for stout (~ 15% of the total) and porter (less than 10% of the total).

You might be better off maintaining yeast starters in the refrigerator. You should use a starter to pitch as this will get the fermentation process off to a faster start.

:lol:Happy as a pig in poo!

I have got the malt! Up from Bangkok on the pony express :D and into my hands at almost half the price of the shop in Phuket!

Pride of Ringwood and Cascade Ale here we come!!!!!!!!

Malt away!

So now I am drinking my first beer brewed with the malt from BKK.Hopped with POR and Cascade, like a winter ale crossed with a mild tasting slightly of toffee apples and candy floss!

The second brew is ready for bottles this week,it's a pumpkit oat ale hopped with Fuggle and EKG,can't wait :D .

I now also have a Coopers kit in the post from my lovely nan in Oz.

Any one interested in brewing, there are others, you are not alone ;) ,so get in touch!

Lee.

I also brew my own beer badlee.

Steve, good to hear that you are a fellow brewer!

It takes 2 weeks for the delivery from Singapore, yes the prices are in $SGP,and there is a $15 international order charge, too.

On the up side, it costs the same to send 1 kit as it does to send 3 kits :o,so bulk is the way to go!

Hi,

do you know what is the cheapest RICE WINE or any WHITE ALCOHOL sold in Thailand ?

And where can you find people who do it at home for cheaper ?

Thanks.

The cheapest white alcohol is at Super Cheap in Phuket. A bottle of Boski, Russian vodka costs a mere 110 baht. The next cheapest is "Uncle Tom", (yeah, try selling that in the states), and it is about 200 baht.

Does anyone know anything about this place? I have been collecting info on b%%r supplies and found that these people, apparently, sell hops and malt.

From Springwise:

Anyone who's ever tried to brew their own beer at home knows that it can be a tricky and time-consuming process, often with variable results. Aiming to offer a simpler and more reliable alternative, New Zealand-based WilliamsWarn just launched a personal brewing machine that can produce customized, commercial-quality beer in as few as seven days.

The WilliamsWarn device is an all-in-one brewing machine that was designed to solve no fewer than 12 of the key problems frequently encountered by home brewers, its makers say. Included among those, specifically, are the carbonation process, temperature control and clarification. Instead, the machine is based on an innovative design and patented process that aim to ensure minimal oxidation while making beer brewing simple and quick.

Developed with the help of government funding from the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MSI)’s TechNZ business support programme, the WilliamsWarn device is currently available only in New Zealand at a price of NZD 5,660 plus GST. However, the company hopes to soon expand to other countries as well. One to partner with for beer lovers in your part of the world?

Sounds like it takes all the fun out of brewing.

Found this info somewhere, I can't remember. I don't speak Thai enough to ask over the phone if they have supplies, but if any of you are willing to call them I would love to know! :)
