I am based in KL and my Non-B issued in Houston last year expires next month. Since my US renewal option is in limbo, how 'friendly' is the Thai mission in KL on issuing a multi-entry, 1-year, Non-B visa?

Their website says they need more information about the company 'sponsoring' the visa as follows:

5. Document required from the inviting company in Thailand:

* Letter indicating applicant’s name, passport number and the objective of the visit to Thailand, etc., requesting for Non- Immigration Type ‘B’ visa.

* Copy of the company’s registration and business license.

* Copy of the company’s list of shareholders.

* Copy of the company’s registration of value-added tax (VAT).

* Copy of the company’s latest balance sheet.

* Map indicating the location of the company.

This is a lot more than the Houston Consul General does so I was wondering if anyone has recent experience in applying for such a visa in KL. Is the Thai Consul General in Penang and Kota Bahru under the same restrictions? Their websites don't have any visa information in English.

Just looking for the path of least resistance, quickest and friendliest in the region for a Non-B.

Thanks,

NL

You will not find a Thai Consulate (or Embassy) in S.E Asia that will issue even a single entry non immigrant B visa without most of the paper work itemised in this link MFA non immigrant B visa

Furthermore, you will not get a non B multiple in the S.E Asia region without a current Work Permit and the correct paper work.

KL is one of the few remaining places where you can obtain a non B multiple if you meet all the required criteria.

^ Thanks for that update. I had pretty much assumed as much from the various threads and Maestro's sticky on the latest knowledge from the area's legations. Sounds like I may need to have a meeting with some companies in Perth, WA and while I am there....

Previously, I have obtained Non-B's in Houston with only a letter from the Client being required. Upon starting the project in Bangkok, the WP application is filed on the understanding that the short duration of the contract work (usually < 2 months) is non-binding and the WP application is withdrawn with everyone's mutual agreement when the project is over.

Be quick, I understand the Thai Consulate in Perth is unfortunately closing as of 14th October 2010.
