Incidents like these are the reason why I left Pattaya years back..... :bah:

This could happen anywhere in the world.

NOT HARDLY..!!

I have been many places and in a couple of war zones and crap like this didn't happen...

Pattaya is BAD NEWS - was a much nicer place as a remote fishing village with one hotel...

I’m with you,

Came to Pattaya when it was a fishing village with what is now referred to as “Walking Street” and a Belg owned Valentine Garden and a work acquaintance owned the Wandy Inn Hotel and Udom Patpong also owned a hotel. Long time ago 40-50 year. All in all at that time it was a nice place to spend a weekend at the seaside.

Over the years I have seen Pattaya go down the slippery slope to what it is now in 2010.

Live 30-km out of Pattaya but have never gone to the place at night since I retired 16-year ago. Even when I go shopping I do it early soon as Supermarkets open and be gone before the drunks wake up from their stupor from the night before.

Of course Pattaya is not the “Lone Ranger” in sliding down the slippery slope, over the years I have seen many others like it working worldwide.

let's leave this whole "oh my god, this never happened when i was able to get an erection!". it happens in every city in every country on every planet. and no one gives a shit that you were paying for sex back when it was called "walking street". not impressive.

You really need to change this thread title: the accused have not even been charged, yet you announce their guilt to the world.

Best point so far. It is irresponsible to your family to engage in risky behavior. Sounds like the Dane died of Pride; he couldn't walk away.

And yet another alcohol related incident...in Pattaya.

I know its terrible thatPattaya is the only place on earth where this happens, disgusting

Actually, I'm glad all the evil of the Earth is confined to one city. I'll never have any troubles as long as I don't go to Pataya. Som nom na!

The part that is the most believable is the fact that Thais will not fight a falang one on one, so having 3 Thais attack him makes the most sense of any part of the story. Probably paid by the English to the dirty work they personally didn't have the cojones to do.

But who knows? Anything is possible in Amazing Thailand.

Yes Tokay, it's possible you may yet grow out of your ill conceived, craven, racism.

Good luck with that.

Edit, sorry forgot: My condolences to the friends and family of Mr Jensen.

Karma

Where is the red button when you need it?

What the hel_l is wrong with going out for ales? Just because you have a new born doesn't mean you can't go and have a few beers, or does he have to spend 24 hours a day with his family.

No I don't agree if he was shitfaced, but out for beers is not inappropriate. Going back to the bar after it was sorted WAS inappropriate and copping a broken nose or black eye etc may have been karma...........but death?

But to just say 'Karma', nice troll moron!!!

You sure are reading a lot into a one word statement. Actually, if one believes in such things, Kharma (Thai Dharma) is the reason for every occurance in life. When I read Som Tum Tiger's post, I just nodded my head; it's not a judgemental thing. OTOH why would you call him a troll and moron based on a one word statement. It seems to say a lot more about you and preconceived notions than about Mr. Som Tom Tiger.

I should have made it down there back in the day, but never got to it. I had a friend Stationed at the U.S. Coast Guard base not that far and he wanted me to go diving with him. I was busy in love at the time, never made it down from the north but I have been with her still to this day. All of Thailand was different then, only thing close to it is out in the hills. I only go shopping a few hours once a week, my car is going to last forever.:jap:

Let me start off by saying I,m British [Welsh] but unfortunately the low life scum that get involved in this type of behaviour have been ruining Pattaya for a good few years now . What do you expect when they are catered for by wall to wall football , cheap booze and women and a police force that will turn a blind eye to their drunken outrages . The only thing they understand is the big stick and this needs to be wielded in no uncertain fashion to sicken these louts . The UK is a hel_l hole thanks to these refugees from the Jeremy Kyle show and everywhere they set foot in Europe , they have caused mayhem too . Basically they have no respect for themselves or anyone else and the sooner the better the Thai authorities start handing out draconian sentences , the better ...It really is the only thing they understand . Who in their right mind goes 6,000 miles around the world to do the same as they could do any weekend in their own cess pit of a city back home ? The mind boggles .

Seems like the Dane was out for trouble and hit one of the English Guys from behind.

The other one hit him back.

But the Dane walked away.

Possible attack by 3 Thais needs investigation.

Very easy for Police to charge the English guys, but it smells fishy to me.

English eh?not British?

English is subset of British. British is a subset of European. Scottish and Welsh people do NOT regard themselves as English. Neither do some Cornish people.

According to Wikipedia, the definition of a Cornish virgin, is "a pre-pubescent girl who can run out-run her father"

I dont know ANY Scotish or Welsh people that class them selves as British its surely an out of date generalism of anyone who lives in the uk im English and thats that!.

By the way there is still nothing about the murder on the local news etc, i still want to know who whitnessed the attack and robbery from the 3 thai men?

The English guys of course....

This story makes little sense, so much missing from it and what is there is more misleading than informative...which makes it all the wierder that anyone is making any judgements on the guy that died...

Even from what is there i'd be very wary of taking it as gospel....I mean ''it was self defence guv'' never heard that one before, it must be true though because a group of english guys would never lay in to some guy on his own for little or no reason, it just doesn't happen:lol:

Also as much as i'm sure in the history of the world a guy has taken a beating from one group of guys and went home and coincidentally took another beating on his way home or at his home from another totally different group of guys...I'd be far more inclined to believe that if he really did take two beatings it would far more likely to be at the hands of the same people.

I think we can all see that the information supplied in the opening post is limited and confusing to say the least and regardless of how low an opinion you have of the thai police i think we have to assume they have a far clearer picture of what happened than we do based on the opening post...and maybe that is why they have arrested the english guys..

Btw ...I'm with you.... i'm English not british...;)

No one in Britain will thank you for calling them European, so don't.

Nor will anyone in Europe !

In my experience Thais do not understand British or united Kingdom. I actually saw a poster in a cafe showing the Union flag as the flag of England. A dental clinic in Bangkok has a feedback page divided into countries and that has England but surprisingly some Scots have left glowing messages of support on there. That must hurt.

Anyway very sad particularly for his wife and new baby.

The Dane travels to Thailand to show off his 3 week old baby to Thai relatives. He must have a screw loose; who takes a 3 week old infant on an international flight? That in and of itself is irresponsible. Then he goes on a pub crawl with violence?

Darwinism in action...

"... and the Darwin award goes to....."

Let's hope Thailand C.S.I. conducts the proper investigation

I doubt there's anything approaching CSI within Thailand. Ms Porntip is good, but she's head and shoulders above any other professionals here, if we are to judge by earlier investigations. The two young women who died mysteriously in Phi Phi come to mind, as well as the case of the solo farang woman who died on a Krabi beach, and the (Belgian?) man who died in Phuket (all within a 6 week period, and all in the same region, 15 months ago). None of those had any plausible conclusions. There are dozens of other unsolved cases. Thai detective prowess is low.

If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. I live in a Thai town that has about the same population as Pattaya, but has just a tiny % of their types of endemic problems.

This could happen anywhere in the world.

It could, but it does not.

Every town has its drunks and its perverts.

Pattaya is where the town drunks and perverts from all over the world go.

Higher concentration of them per sq. km.

I always thought that a reporters job was to find out what happened and then report back.

You couldn't be more wrong. A reporter's job is to attract attention and in doing so sell ads. Which explains the quality of reporting.

I think you'll find it's called the Union Jack, NOT the Union flag.

Last time I looked at a map, Britain was a part of Eurolandia. Has that changed recently ?

Of course, how could I be so stupid.

I will immediately start calling all my friends from Cuba and Jamaica American as on the map they are spitting-distance away from continental N. America.

Baby was three weeks old, It is common for the Thai mother after giving birth to disappear for some Mum and daughter time where certain rituals are carried out, husbands are not invited.

Would you care to elaborate? I have never heard of this and would like to know more.
