A few years ago a rugby team from Argentina were in a plane crash in the Andes they were stuck there for ages no food etc.

So they ended up eating their dead teammates, they were fianally rescued and wrote a book.

Most newspapers sent their book critics to the launch, Time Out sent their food critic.

I T; The recipe that I use calls for-

1500 G Pork roast roasted for 3 hrs at 325 degrees.

add 500 G kraut mixed with,1 cup brown sugar and 1 cup of applesauce.1 cup of water.

Dump the mixture on top of the pork and continue baking at 300 degrees for 1 more hour covered in the oven, the pork should be very well done.

now this calls for pork,,but I think that you could use long pig instead. :o

incidents like this are not isolated to germany of course, america had ed gein, the notorius stephenspoint wisconsinite who skinned and ate his victioms, made lampshades out of their skin. this is a sexual tabboo that is on freuds list and as long as we have bored and rich western countries you will find every tabboo broken or tried. i truly doubt you would see this type of thing in thailand, although some bizarre serial murder behavior is beggining to surface in china now. could it be that this type of thing happens as countries become more afluent?

Jawsus Christ,What you mean "in developing rich countrys",it happens every day in africa, everytime an army comes thru they eat a bunch of folks, the last place it was stopped was FIJI Is. ###### ,the south sea islands was real bad for that as well as africa.

It is no new weirdo thing, christ people have been eating their neighbors for centurys.

So what,I know a lot of folks that have awful eating habits,Just the other day in the market I saw some little animals all skinned and I thought they were rats and the way it was explained to me,they were genny pigs.whats worse than that or wasp larve or maggots.

some of the American indians used to rip your heart and liver out and eat it. Shit man,you just gotta be tough..

One of the things that a poor chinese had to leave his family when he died was his tatooed hide, after death they would skin him tan the hide and make lamp shades and wall hangings to sell,I have seen a few.

When I die I am gonna have my face skinned, tanned and a girls bicycle seat cover made out of it.

Actually, the plane crashed in 1972. 16 of 34 passengers survived. I read the book which was better than the movie in my opinion. The survivors were stuck for 70 days at -20C.

2002 I saw an interview with Dr. Roberto Canessa M.D. who after 30 years at age 49 went back to the crash site with 2 friends. Says everything was unchanged. Found even parts of the plane and clothing pieces.

"On such a place you feel close to God. I thanked Him that I survived, that I was allowed to become a M.D. and found a wonderful wife. I talked to my dead buddies, told them about their families. For myself I wished that one would remember me as honest man and good father and not as cannibal."

I saw that interview when i was in the U.K. I must say he looked very well from his previous diet but again he was not asked what everyone wants to know.

What did it taste like? Thats why Time Out sent the food critic to the launch and I think the book and the film was called survival.

-20c no problem keeping the larder cool then.

As anyone who has witnessed open chest surgery procedure will tell you, the odour of human flesh being cauterized has an uncanny smell of roast pork.

Maybe the Nigerian scammers who dissect the bodies (see Trink post) can start a sideline selling body parts to Germans.

There are still cannibals living on remote parts of the island of Panay, Philippines, it

would be unwise to visit remote areas alone.

"in developing rich countrys"

Hmm, ever heard of Borneo, PNG . . .

Cannibalism has been around for far longer than 'developing rich countrys' (sic)

Possibly the old cunilingus is a form of this, not taken to the extreme!?

Anyway, he didn't seem like a mad kraut, maybe a tad upset at most.
