Reviving an old thread, sorry ...Is it walkable from Boat Lagoon to RPM ? Or does one have to hitch a tuk-tuk ??? Thanks.

Yes it is easily walkable, if you went up the main road it would be about 400m but I think you can cut through somewhere.

Have a look on google maps...

Maybe 400 m from Boat Lagoon to the main road, then more than 400 m into RPM. You are looking at a good 40 minute hike. I don't think you can cut through as both properties jealously fenced in.

OK so you are looking at about 800m to a 1km walk if you are starting and ending further inside each marina. For me this would take about 15 mins.

Depends on your definition of a hike I guess and also your walking ability. Probably take longer in a Tuk Tuk as you have to do the U-turns/traffic lights.

Thanks all for the head's up. Could sort of form a picture now in my mind. Have decided to base ourselves in BL as we have something going on in BIS. The other alternative, i.e. RPM, is a bit on the high side with 2-room apt going for 9,000 TBht daily. I understand that the hotel in BL is a bit jaded but then, we ain't posh creatures of comfort :). Cheers all.

First from main road to marina, its 1.4km

second, you can rent longterm for about 50,000 per month

and next to BIS they are many pool villas, very high class from 45 to 90 000 per month. There is one (the lantern) for 70 000, private pool , 3 or 4 story and private elevator.

FYI

You could get a villa just up the road in Thalang for a lot less.

Thanks, stuandchris, for the pointer .... Will google around ..... How far is Talang, car journey-wise ? As we'll be there for a little under a week, close to ameneties (hence, BL is our first choice) would be preferred.

As a matter of fact, was just browsing through Grace Gardens website and saw the potential of this place. Not too sure if they do short-term / daily rental. Might just give a quick call tomorrow. How far is this from BIS ? Cheers.

Seriouseats -thanks for the feedback. Had another look at the website of Grace Gardens and found the rates for both Lantern and Sunnypoint. They are both starting 10K TBHT a day. I like the look of them but considering that we'll be leaving the pad at 7 in the morning and coming back just before the sun sets, I think we'll give this set-up a miss this time around. They would be perfect if we are in HKT for pure holiday bliss ! Looks like we'll just settle for Boat Lagoon. It can't be that bad ..... As long as there are decent eateries within walking distance - both Western and Thai ... and outlet for the odd Singha .....

if you're working or have kids going to BIS, you will get a discount at grace gardens after talking to the owner.

Also Look "Sky hotel bypass road" definitely on the cheaper side and its from grace gardens, so good quality. BIS is 3km of highway away. no lights, no u-turns.
