Hotel Quality Bed Sheets In Chiang Mai

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

Can anyone suggest a company in Chiang Mai where I can buy some bedding of hotel quality? I would also consider ordering via a website from another part of Thailand if you can vouch for their quality and reliability.

Thanks

I have ben unable to find any good bed linen here either.

I brought my last lot at the Emporium in BK, and still its not that good.

I assume that the top hotels import from abroad?

100% Egyptian cotton is the way to go IMHO :)

Would you mind sharing where? I'd really like to know.

I looked at Central a few times, there it's 2000 baht and UP...

Sounds odd, but Makro's Aro brand are pretty good, at least their tight-nap towels are. I always check the in-room menus of hotels I stay in for deals on bedding. Was in the Wang Come (I think) in the Rai a while back and they did me a very good deal on quality (new) sheets and pillow cases.

Pure cotton is very expensive here, as is stainless steel cookware. Both good items to bring from the US. I've never seen a tailor shop with pure cotton, and most of their 100% wool is actually a blend. I quit buying stuff from them after my first visit, 12 years ago. I paid 20 US for a 100% queen cotton set at Macy's three years ago, it was normally 60 USD. From Krygikistan. It is so much better than poly blends, when you are trying to make it without a/c. The list of items cheaper in the US grows every day. Wine, cheese, electronics, cotton, stainless steel...............

There is a fabric shop in the Worowat Market Building and their front entrance is directly across the street from the entrance of the Chinese Temple which sells 100% cotton sheet sets and the fabric is good quality. A king fitted sheet with two pillow cases, and bolster cases will run about 750 to 850 baht. The English speaking owner will also make a flat sheet of the same material on order. Also available are matching duvet covers. Unfortunately, I cannot find her card with the telephone number and exact address.

Thank you all for your valuable advice. Seems we all have the same problem about finding lasting quality. I might even consider buying in Australia and bringing with me next time I go.

Thanks for this.

I'd advise op to stay away from the brand stores, like HomePro, for bedding as they seem prohibitively expensive for a simply set of non-high quality material.

Need 3 or 4 new bedsets and happened to look in index..

7000 baht a set, and no you dont get the thin duvet included in the display, just sheets / pillows / bolster and duvet cover !!

OK so its 600 thread count but even so... Bit rich to drop +- 1000 USD on a few bedsets. :o

The warowat market shop mentioned above will get a look see..

Tesco Lotus has bedding sets of white colour for ~1400 baht.

Sheet (king size) + 2 pillows covers + 2 bolster covers

Yeah but have you felt it ?? That polyester mix stuff !! Just nasty.. Doubly so in a hot climate..

I dont even like the cotton silk mix that they had in index.. Still didnt have that 100% cotton feel.

Thank you for the useless reply! How about answering "Where?"

The Sawasdee Smile Inn at Khoa San Rd. area, has a sign in the room, if you stain the sheet; you must pay 300 THB. So I guess they get a set for less than 600 THB. But, they were definitely an uncomfortable blend. As far as the cotton at Worrorat, I doubt it, but would like to have a look. You couldn't find 100% cotton socks here if your lives depended on it.

Does anyone have any idea why 100% cotton is so hard to find here?

I heard excuses that is hard to wash or it gets dirty easy.

Takes a lot longer to dry by air. Real Levis are 2800 thb at Central. Might also be a tax issue, like shaving cream or something. They don't make it, farangs want it, and they can tax it like a luxury item.

Lai Thai (southeast moat) also had a similar sign at reception and that is a family-type place. What a thing to advertise at a hotel reception, though. What goes through their minds? :ermm:

Having lived in cold or temperate climates, I've not formed strong prejudices against blended-fabric sheets. Moreover, on warmer evenings, I have no compunction about turning on the bedroom air.

Still, I'd been looking for cotton for months when I encountered a Robinson sale out in the corridors of Airport Central. Good quality, flat sized king only (I hate buying sets that include many unneeded items), and still a price high enough to dismay. Wool is expensive too, I understand, but it appears that Thailand does grow polyester in its verdant fields.

As is often the case here, promotions are not necessarily price-effective. I keep a list with me sometimes for weeks or months for major purchases. If I do succeed, the price holds itself as a bargain for 6 months or more. (My washing machine, also from Robinson, was the best price I was to see for more than six months later, even at Siam etc.)

Patience can pay, but cotton is dear.

You can buy 100% cotton 60 b per yard on Warorot market. Wash it first because it shrinks .Ask you lokal tailor to border them and you have the perfect size.

I own a resort in Maerim and we buy all our bedding from Lotus Bedding in Bangkok. They have different grades of sheets etc and the ptrices are not too bad.

For small quantities I suggest you look in Chiang Mai - from the Lotus/Tesco on the northern Superhighway drive out of Lotus and turn first left after Bata show store, go through 2 lights and there is a big bed shop on the left hand side

That's the Peenang mattress shop. They have some reasonable quality bedsheets. As mentioned Aro at Makro do some good cotton sheets/pillowcases, all seem to be white I think.

At the yearly Export promotion thingy on Tunghotel Rd they had a stall selling exactly the same quality as Aro but a bit cheaper and many colours.

Can I get a confirmation on the store name? Peenang??

Sounds like it may be worth exploring.

Thanks

I presume it's part of Phuket Peenang Mattress as according to their website they have a shop in Chiang Mai (and 14 other places in Thailand) They have an information form on their website;

Oh, and if you find out anything might be worth posting to this topic.

Yes definitely Peenang (sp?) mattress. On one of the intersections (corner shop - right hand side travelling north from Sriphum intersection) between the highway and Sriphum moat corner. They have another store on Chiang Moi Rd opposite the basketware shop.

Yuck!!!!

They have to be the worst looking bed sheets I have ever seen ( on their website).

Lotus is a cheap, poor quality brand.

Import is the only option for sensible priced, high quality sheets.

I've been looking for some high thread count cotton sheets for years and occasionally there will be a sale at Robinsons or Central, but still expensive.

Makro carries a simple cheap white cotton sheet for 'hotel use' that is decent quality cotton and does get softer with several washings.

Ok, so it took some time but I finally got my sheets. Probably not the quality I would have preferred but still worthy of buying. My first mistake was asking the taxi driver to take me to Peenang, which for his convenience was the shop on Chiang Moi Rd facing the basket shops. Unaware of the various areas of Chiang Mai I assumed, to my disappointment that this was the shop mentioned. I later discovered they have another larger shop, as previously mentioned by Bluweyze close to Tesco/Lotus at Kamthiang.

Although this shop is much bigger the bottom line is they sell exactly the same things, just bigger stocks, however I think they are more likely to discount more also. Im not sure of the thread count because it didnt state on the packet, but the quality was ok and the price was reasonable. I paid approximately Bt900 for a fitted sheet, 2 pillow case and flat sheet for a king sized bed.

In retrospect, if I had known the measurements of the bed I would have bought the exact set from Target in Perth. The set was 1000 thread and cost Bt1943. Although twice the price I feel sure they would have lasted much longer than the ones I bought at Peenang. On the reverse side, how many wives want to keep sheets that long and at the cheaper price seems more economical to replace at an earlier stage.
