Hi, me and my GF just want to stay 1 year in Thailand. No need of work permit, etc.

I've heard, but no confirmation, that a simple letter from an employer/company ("sponsorship letter") would be enought.

Do you have more information about this?

Do they check the company issuing the letter (if it's a big company, etc..)

I will go to Paris (France) embassy, are they friendly with visa? Must this letter be written in english, french, Thai?

I've heard there is approx. 150€ to pay for this.

If you have any information, please help.

It will depend on the consulate or embassy you apply. In Asia it is not enough, in Europe it often is. But no idea about the embassy in Paris. Not seen reports about that one.

Dear Mario2008,

First of all, thanks for your answer.

I will let you know about Paris's embassy.

But please, do you have any recommandation about that letter?

I dont ask for a model, but do they check if it comes from a big company, or not?

Will it be strange if that company say they want to hire me, and my GF?

In which langage should it be written?

What's the name of this application? What about fees?

Will we have to leave every 3 months?

Thanks again for all, sorry for all these questions but if you have some answers, I would be glad to hear from the forum :)

It is not checked if it comes from a big company or not, although it might be a plus if it is a ltteer from a well known company.

Normally such letter states that they want to employ you, and includes your function and when you will start working for them, and asks for a visa for you. It would also include your name and possibly your passport number.

Your Gf would need a letter of employment of her own, as her status as your girlfriend does not entitle her to anything.

For the Thai embassy a letter in Thai would be fine, otherwise French should do.

You apply for a non-immigrant visa.

Yes, you would need to leave the country every 90 days.

Another option would be a double entry tourist visa, which is good for 60 days which can be extended with another 30 days and then leave the country and return for another 60 days and extend for 30 days. After that one can get a new double entry tourist visa from Vientiane, laos. That would be almost 1 year. An extension of a tourist visa costs 1,900 baht.

I received 2 consecutive 'B' Visas several years back from a General Consul in USA -- but are you really asking what I think you are asking? even if a small Company if the person making the offer provides a copy of his/her photo ID in 'whites' that would help ...

Mario, Jazzbo,

Thanks for your answers.

Mario, I know that but if possible I'd prefer the company way... anyway thanks for all your precious advices.

Jazzbo, I know several company owner that may want to hire me / to sponsorship me (...), but I think their companies are not very big. So I wondered if a letter from them would be enough...

Will try to get more information about this. Will let you know.

Hope ppl will feed this thread :)

Thanks!
