Hi there. Sorry if this has been asked before of if this is in the wrong section, my internet is soooo slow to do searches.

My gf is currently applying for a US tourist visa but has been asked to get her documents translated into english and to get certified true copies from a notary public before even attempting to submit at the US consulate. Can anyone suggest a reputable service to get this done? How much would it usually cost? Thanks in advance.

I recently used AC Service, Ltd.; Building 2, 11th floor; Kian Gwan Building; 140 Wireless Road (diagonally across from US Consulate), Bangkok for some translations Thai-English and get them certified as true copies from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There are any number of translation agencies in the two large buildings across from the US Consuale. The agency I used got the job done with a minimum of fuss on my part. Not cheap, but well worth the price for me. Basic translation price is something like 400 baht per document, Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs certification is extra. The total cost adds up real fast. Who told you she needed translations. In the past it was not necessary. The Embassy has people that can read, write and speak Thai. They will also do the interview in Thai or english, her choice.

Copies of documents are not needed either. They would like to see originals and if they decide thay want a copy they can make it. they won't keep any originals (except the passport while waiting for the visa to get approved).

Thailand does not have notary publics either. Lawyers will "notarise" documents for a very large fee but their notarisation doesn't mean anything on foreign documents but it does look very official.

We did not apply for a tourist visa, but we did apply for a Fiancée visa a few years ago, and we were required to have certified translations of my then fiancée. As it was stated by a previous reply, Plenty of places to do that by the US Consulate. Dont remember about the cost,but I dont remember thinking that it was too high.

400thb sounds reasonable per page. How long did it take for you to get your translation back?

Where is the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs? Is it on Wireless Witthayu Road too? Do you need to make an appointment to get the certified stamp or can just show up on the day and queue?
