At my local PTT in Ubon there's a nice automatic air pump where you just punch the number in you want and it does the rest. Next to it is an old air pump with a broken gauge so you don't have a clue how much you've put in the tire of the motorcycle.

Nearly every time I use the automatic one with my motorcycle, a staff member will come running over saying "no no no no, just car" and point at the broken pump. Usually I'm done by then anyway and nobody is ever waiting in line. Am I missing some kind of unwritten rule? Is there a difference? I checked the pressure at home and it was correct so

One of Thailands many mysteries :)

I have an auto pump close to where I live too, PTT. I always use it and no one ever said anything. The only thing the PTT station is useful for

That's the problem....if all the pressures were correct how could the attendants cousins and uncles make a crust repairing or replacing tubes/tyresbiggrin.gif

Perhaps as a result of some Thai urban myth...... management have then stated only cars to use the better of the pumps. No idea why this could be.

Some instruction lost in translation between Thai and Thai from Management to Staff. It amazes me how often this 'lost in translation between Thai and Thai' occurs, as strange as it may seem a lot of the time people listen but only hear what they want to or expect to hear.
