Health Ministry Orders Special Care

THE PUBLIC HEALTH MINISTRY HAS ORDERED SPECIAL CARE FOR A WOMAN WITH ABNORMALLY LARGE BREASTS

The Public Health Ministry Permanent Secretary has ordered doctors at Lampang central hospital to take good care of patients with abnormally large breasts.

Permanent Secretary Wichai Thienthaworn (วิชัย เทียนถาวร) has spoken on the case of a Lampang woman having abnormally large breasts, weighing about 7 kilograms each. He said the Lampang central hospital had reported that the patient had used her rights in the 30-baht project in admittance. Doctors performed an X-ray to find no presence of a tumour. However, the doctors had diagnosed the case as probably having been caused by an abnormality in the secretion of the hormone that causes milk production. This has been causing pain in the patient. Md. Wichai said he had ordered the team of medical experts at the hospital to take good care of the patient.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Department of Medical Services, Chatree Banchuen (ชาตรี บานชื่น), said the cause of the abnormality in the breasts of this patient could not yet be clearly diagnosed. He said the cancer treatment & control centre in Lampang has been assigned to jointly conduct diagnosis of the patient with the Lampang central hospital. Md. Chatree said initial treatment would have to be based on the symptoms, where doctors had issued painkillers, anti-inflammation medicine, and drugs to halt the production of milk. However once the main cause of the condition is known, the treatment will be direct.
