Can a luuk kreung be on overstay? Yes... If they don't have Thai nationality. i.e. IF he was born overseas to Thai & UK parents - then never applied for a Thai Passport or Thai ID. Then entering Thailand on a UK passport as he has no other means to enter. He's could still be what is termed 'a luk Kreung' - (half Thai / Half British) or more accurately, both Thai and British.... but without legal Thai Identification (ID card and Passport). -

Don't know what trump has to do with my thoughts, or thoughs of family in N.C. All safe, and that's all that matters. The area is a bit isolated, since some, many roads are impassible, or just not there any more. Would think with all the rain, they got plenty of water. Bag a deer, and they can eat for a month. They're are fairly self sufficient, and far from helpless, luckily. -

Looking for a good map (or maps) of Koh Chang
The Royal Thai Survey Department used to make very good and detailed cartographic maps of Thailand, scale 1:50,000 if I’m not mistaken. And there were several bookshops in Bangkok and Chiang Mai where you could buy those maps. The website of the RTSD has been unavailable for many months, though, and I’m not sure you can still buy RTSD maps in any book shop. Does anyone know where/how I can get my hands on the RTSD maps of Koh Chang? I believe one map covers most of the island, and the other one covers the southernmost strip plus most of the islands south of Koh Chang. I’m a bit of a map aficionado, to put it mildly, and I especially love good and very detailed cartographic maps. I’m thinking of spending next winter (2025/26) on Koh Chang, and having a good map of the island would be quite essential for me. Any and all help/advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks! -

Patong - The Wake
Watch out – – there is still Covid 19 about, and I know because I've got it, unfortunately. I had the original vaccination just over three years ago (I think) but didn't bother to get a booster to counter the latest Covid 19 version as I thought the old one would cover me, but obviously not! I took myself off to Patong hospital on Wednesday, October 2nd because I was feeling extremely rough, with a throat which was so painful that I couldn't swallow, along with a fever and a chest which would rattle every time I breathed in or out, which included bringing up huge amounts of horrible green phlegm. They took a blood test and other tests and I had a chest x-ray, and waited for the results. The doctor asked if I had anyone at home to look after me (because I was feeling very shaky on my feet, this especially after the motorbike accident) and I told him no, I lived on my own, and he offered me the opportunity to stay overnight in the hospital, which I gracefully declined. He said that the chest x-ray was marginal (stay in hospital or not) so I paid for the vast amount of tablets he provided and went home. I have to say that I don't remember feeling this sick for many years, and I have no appetite and have hardly eaten anything for a while now, this being exacerbated by the motorbike accident I think. The upside to this is that I have lost 6 kg in weight, however the downside is eating no food and not drinking any wine!!! I think I'm coming right very slowly, and would love to get back to the time when I could enjoy a good meal and a good wine........fingers crossed it will be within the next week!! Just a comment on Patong Hospital – – it is not the cleanest place I have ever experienced and it would be fair to say that the place is dilapidated somewhat, and the x-ray room was something akin to a store cupboard, but they did their job and for that I'm grateful. PS. Remind myself to get the updated Covid 19 vaccine when it's available for the next round of Covid.!!!! -

Why aren't bus seats made from flame retardant material?
These materials just made it worse. Once a cylinder, valve or piping failed, highly compressed natural gas ignited like a flamethrower and turned the inside of the bus into an inferno. As the installation of the extra cylinders was unauthorised, I doubt if any of the internal piping was flameproof, so would have burst and added more gas to the flames. Whether the proper report will ever be produced or published, we will see. CNG should really not be contained within or fitted to a passenger vehicle, although this would be a major change for Thai taxis that all seem to have a tank in the boot. i am also concerned about the lack/failure of emergency exits which may be connected with the rebodying of this 50 year old chassis. If they had worked properly many more lives could have been saved. -

Totally agree, I think if it came down to the wire the people would revolt, it would put street venders and village people out in the cold, dont think it will happen ,it would be a return to slavery.
