Thai Police Arrest Malaysian Tourist For Smuggling Ice Worth 20 Million Baht

Police Nab Drug Smugglers

Police have nabbed a Malaysian tourist for smuggling Ice, and a Thai man for possession pills that can used to produce methamphetamines.

Chiang Mai provincial police arrested a suspected drug smuggler on a highway to Phrae province on December 21 and seized 17 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, or Ice, worth 20 million baht, as well as two mobile phones and 80,000 baht in cash.

The suspected dealer has been identified as 60 year Malaysian Yong Yi.

He said this is the second time he bought Ice in Chiang Mai province to sell in Malaysia.

In a separate case, Chiang Mai provincial police arrested a 41 year old drug smuggler, Weerachai Chanokkuekul, a native of Nakhon Ratchasima province.

They seized a truck, 80,000 baht in cash, and 300,000 pseudoephedrine pills, which can be used to produce methamphetamines, locally known as Yah-Bah.

Police said the drugs are from Bangkok and are distributed through a drug chain in Chiang Mai province.
