Place To Work In Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Hi

Can anyone recommend a good place to work for a mate of mine.

He's well qualified, i.e. has a degree + a post grad TESOL (University)

Not a lot of teaching experience. Predominantly tutoring + some volunteer work.

He is extremely reliable and will make an excellent teacher.

Essentially, he's looking for a place in Bangkok (which is why I can't help him much) that meets the following criteria:

1. Conversation type classes.

2. Lesson plans provided (i.e., he doesn't have to create courses / plans at this stage)

3. Close to a BTS (Has told me to add that this is important!)

4. Pay isn't overly important.

5. Reasonable hours.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations lads!

I have a friend who knows lots of jobs in Bangkok for qualified teachers.

Does your friend know how to use a computer? :o

Yep :o

I am at work and sitting behind a PC all day, bored and reading forums :D Thus why I am posting.

I spoke to him on the phone a few hours back and he asked me to post. He has limited net access at the moment.

Does it really matter who asks the questions though?

I don't think there are many jobs which offer prepared lessons, positions for beginners (which despite your praise, your friend is), AND reasonable hours, plus all your other requirements.

Alphabet soup conversation schools offer the prepackaged lessons and some support for beginners, but often require workers to do split-shifts and other unreasonable things.

Government schools keep the normal school hours, but you're pretty much on your own with teaching there.

Neither pay great money, so they match your friend's expectations in that regard. Otherwise he's got to choose the least of the evils. Nothing's perfect.

and you think that if we knew of a place like that ( exception is no4) we would tell anyone ??? :o:D

I think it's either Berlitz or Inlingua that do lesson plans and/or get a lot of the stuff ready for you.

Not sure if they're near to the BTS though.

There are Berlitzes(Asoke) and Inlinguas(Chidlom, Silom) near the BTS.

Berlitz give lesson plans, Inlingua don't.
