I was working in Thailand and had a WP and the associated visa for a few years. I have a UK passport

Then I left the company and worked for an overseas company, living (but not working) in Thailand. I went to the UK and obtained a 1 year tourist visa and that worked fine. That expired, so I went to HK and got a 60 day tourist visa which is due to expire in Jan. My plan was to extend it by 30 days.

Then what? I had planned to bounced up to Laos/Cambodia and do visa runs, but I see worrying news about them not issuing back to back tourist visas.

I am not old enough to retire, not married to Thai. Not currently working here (so, no WP). I am a bit worried that I am running out of options if I want to stay here:

1) try Laos/Cambodia visa runs and keep my fingers crossed that they give me the visa

2) fly to HK (I have accomodation there), courier my passport to the UK and apply for a 1 year tourist visa from Hull

3) find a educational course here and apply for ED visa

4) ????

Any thoughts/suggestions/help?

Also, is there a time limit when I can apply for the 30 day extension to my current tourist visa (the immigration website helpfully has a malicious virus on it)

Apply for the extension a few days before expiry.

Then apply for a 2 entry Tourist Visa. Vientiane Laos.

The Visa will be free but you need a Visa to enter Laos. Around 1,500 Baht. Get it at the border.

Is there is a time limit for when I can apply? I was thinking of goining to the immigration centre 12 days before the end of the 60 day period.

Laos will not be a problem? Even though I already have a tourist visa in there? I see troubling comments here about that.

actually there is o 1 year tourist visa...

maybe u got a 1 year Non-Immigrant Visa?

I understand that it is almost impossible to get a 1 year visa. Hull has been an exception to this in the past, but it sounds like they are tightening that up now.

Apply for the 30 days extension around a week early.

Vientienne Laos should not be a problem.

As for Hull? We have had one report of a tightening of rules. It may well be a change of policy. lets hope not.

Thanks for the info, I will go there and get it renewed asap.

If Laos is not a problem, then I will try that next time. Hull is a bit of a faff with sending stuff by courier.

Has the OP got a job or is he really a permanent tourist?

Permanent tourist. Actually a student as I am studying, but not on a course that is eligible for an ED visa.

Why, do you want to offer me a job? :)
