Recieving E-Card In Hotmail

Featured Replies

Have been getting a few E-Cards over the last few weeks. I have never received any before and don't expect any of my friends to send one, but you never know.

The cards arrive in the junk folder and I have deleted them with all the other junk but it has occurred to me that the cards may be genuine and end up in with the junk because Hotmail does not recognize the sender.

Does anyone receive genuine e-cards and do they arrive in your inbox or in the junk folder?

And if my curiosity really got the better of me is there any way I could have a peek at one of these cards to check if it is genuine without releasing a load of nasty little critters into my system.

:)

In my experience, ecards very often do end up in the junk file, and not just hotmail. I consider ecards to be a lazy persons idle choice and generally ignore them in any case!

Check your spam filters and add the card provider to your trusted list.

Check your spam filters and add the card provider to your trusted list.

That's just the point, without opening it I don't know if the card is from a trusted provider.

You don't actually need to open the Email - at least not in Hotmail, just "hover" your Mouse Cursor over the Email in the Inbox (or Junk Mail) Folder and a pop-up window will show you the Email Address from which it was sent.

I also have received several "E-Cards" in the last few weeks, most of which come from "Easy-Online-E-Cards@IEbWlBjBE.com" an obvious try on.

Plus in any case simply opening an Email will not release any potential nasties - only if you click on a Link in the Message is there any real danger.

Yea! My E-cards are from the same source so guess I don't have a secret admirer :(

As for E-Cards being "a lazy persons idle choice" I remember when the Internet was young sending an E-Card was a a cool and exiting and interesting thing to do. The technology was all new before instant messaging, text and instant e-mails and cards were still sent the old fashioned way. Guess times change B)

For my Christmas and New Year messages I researched some nice seasonal photos

from the net, then wrote my greetings in an e-mail with photo inserted at the beginning.
