The explosions woke up residents of a neighborhood in Ajaccio around two o'clock in the morning and blew the windows of apartments above. The bars are located a hundred meters from each other on the ground floor of apartment buildings. Fifty people were evacuated for fear of a gas leak but most residents returned to their homes at about 3.30 a.m. local time, with only one family which had to be relocated. Three people received medical attention for minor injuries, which included a pregnant woman who suffered from shock, an elderly person complaining of chest pains, and another person slightly injured by flying glass. A police officer on site said the collateral damage is considerable. The cause of the blasts are not yet known. -- © BNO News All rights reserved 2011-01-19
