ONET on same day as reds' rally in Bangkok

By The Nation on Sunday.

The Ordinary National Educational Test (ONET) schedule won't be postponed even though red shirt protesters will stage a rally on the same day, according to National Institute of Educational Testing Service (NIETS) director Associate Professor Sampan Panpruk.

ONET for Matthayom 6 (Grade 12) students is due to be held on February 19-20. February 19 is the same day of a planned anti-government protest.

The demonstrators will march from Ratchaprasong intersection to Democracy Monument.

"NIETS has told staff at the examination centres near the protest sites to brace for unwanted situations. We have backup examination centres for the students," he said.

Also, in the restive southern border provinces, Sampan said NIETS would allow heads of exam centres in those provinces to make a decision themselves immediately to solve problems if any violence occurs.

Prathom 6 students (sixth graders) will do ONET on February 1, while the test for Matthayom 3 students (ninth graders) is due on February 2.

Mustn't forget the other Red Shirt rally on a different day in February and in a different area...

According to the other paper, there will be Red Shirt Rally on Sunday, February 13th. They plan to give an ultimatum to Abhisit's government to set the Red Shirt Leaders free. They neglected to say what repercussions there would be if their ultimatum was not met.

The Red Shirts will assemble at the Bangkok Remand Prison, where the Red Shirt Leaders are being held, at 1:00pm and then later on move to Victory Monument.

And mustn't forget the boost they get from succesful uprisings in Tunesia en Egypt, at the moment 10 000 in the centre in Cairo and the rest of the country controlled by the people. The Reds will learn from this...it needs more than Bangkok to succeed, if the Reds and Yellows rally together this government is out, will the army step in again?

Yes, but Egypt is different,

and little theologically nor sociologically reflects the same things.

Is anyone surprised that the Reds have no respect for

high school students trying to get into good universities?

Educated kids MUST be elites, so fair game to disrupt.

No schools open in Egypt for now, to see disruption take a look at Egypt, rising foodprices and corrupt governements in Thailand AND Egypt, that's why the people of Tunesia started their succesful uprising, wait and see.

Follow the Tunisian/Egyption approach and the revolution will cost Thaksin a fraction of what it cost him last year.

But then he needs people to genuinely believe. Not likely.

The same can be said for Osama Bin Laden!

As for the ONET, if anyone cares, why not simply give out the question papers the day before, so the candidates can practise the answers at home with their friends.

This will

a) make the papers easier to read without the untidiness of furtive copying mistakes

B) will make the exam much quicker and easier to administer and the students will be able to get back to their arcade games almost immediately.

It dosen't take a high percentage for Osama. he has the backing of a whole religion. They don't care what you believe iff you don't believe as I do I will kill you. That get's lots of support and money.

Khunsiam just out of curiosity what do you gain if a coalition of red and yellow shirts get in. I could understand certain people pushing for that so as the government can not see what they are doing. They are to busy trying to get rid of the other.
