I was following with interest the recent and active thread about the Indian restaurant, Haveli, and then (as had been noticed by several others) it vanished.

I went to look for it in the pinned section and couldn't see it - it was indeed buried, but a search dug it out. And then I noticed that the pinned food/restaurant section is not organised into headers or topics but is one gigantic tangle of mixed topics and responses spreading over 4 years. It is difficult to follow any thread through.

I would like to make a tentative suggestion - just a thought that I hope might be considered for the future.

The pinned restaurants topic represents an archive - and one that I have found really useful to refer to over the years.

But when a topic (any topic) is active and people are engaged in adding to it, I feel it would be more appropriate to keep it in the main body of the forum where it can be instantly spotted and followed. And perhaps aspects of the moderation process (ie shifting it into the pinned archive) could come into play when the moderator judged that the topic had petered out and died a natural death?

This is only a gentle suggestion and not a criticism of the moderators of any sort, but judging from the several ongoing responses about the Haveli topic and its disappearance I feel that I might not be alone in this request?

Thank you for your proposal.Let me just point out a couple of facts, that yourself or other readers might have missed in the past, posted in several threads that were closed.

1/ Discussion , recommendation, even soft advertising we are letting you use the pinned food topic. Here

you also have free advertising Here

2/ The main forum body is reserved for SPONSORS.

3/ Trying to break the food forum into sections, I honestly don't have the time or inclination to sit there & disect pizza', hamburgers etc & move them accordingly.

4/ Once a topic is posted in general Samui forum, I can no longer move it or merge it, it plays havoc with search engines.

5/ The misuse of the forum over time have made these changes essential. Was there long before I became moderator.

6/ The topic is active with over 70k+ views, many a referrals & discussion have taken place.

If anyone wishes to discuss this any further, please do so via PM or Email me.

Thank you.
