Welcome Gordon,

If you are hunting for accomodation, there is plenty to choose from, There is a forum on thi site devoted to it, or the Bangkok Post is stuffed full of it or there are plenty of agents who can help you..

In fact there is so much available, take your time and look at a sozen or more that fit your proce bracket before making a decision.

Oh yes and RENT, don't BUY (yet anyway)

Good Luck, Hope you enjoy it here as much as most of us do

Cheers

You don’t give the address of your place of work. However, with the traffic in Bangkok being what it is (very bad during rush hours) I suggest that you try to find a flat within walking distance (500 metres, given the tropical climate) of your office, if at all possible.

Welcome gordon :o

Give us a clue where you will be working :D

If it's within a few minutes walk of a Skytrain or Metro station your choice of accomodation grows enormously (commute on the train).

I actually drive into town (Asoke) every day from Pathum Thani, takes less than an hour IF I leave home at 6.30AM, I'm lucky in that I can stagger my working day. Takes a little longer to get home leaving town at 5.30PM.

Thanks guys for the initial help....maybe I was a bit vague but as its first time on this forum i wasn't sure if there would be any replies.

I will be working in the Klontoey area .....anyone know it?

Not sure if this is a suitable area to live...generally in the past i have commuted from the Landmark Hotel on Suchumvit which by taxi wasn't too bad.

I would prefer to live outside Bangkok rather than in it but i don't know how feasible this would be

Thanks Again

Lots of places near Ekami. just a short walk to the sky train.

depends on his Budget Barry. If he wants to be near the Skytrain he wont get much under 30k a month, but if tht's in his budget, hey no probs, I prefer Thong Lo

lived there for 2 years, nightlife is better than Ekami in my opinion
