After experiencing the discomfort and embarrassment of a prostate test onthe National Health Service, a friend of mine decided to have his next test carried out while visiting Thailand, where the beautiful nurses are rather more gentle and accommodating.

As usual he was asked to strip off, he lay naked on his side on the bed and the nurse began the examination.

"At this stage of the procedure it's quite normal to get an erection" said the nurse.

"I haven't got an erection" said the man. icon_confused.gif

"No, but I have" replied the nurse. icon_biggrin.gif

I'm almost 60,i've never gotten A physical prostate exam.A doctor told me ya only can tell if the prostate is enlarged.I get A "PSA" test every 6 months, that will give ya better results. If it's high I understand then they give A byopsy.Supposely all men when they get old will

get prostate cancer.

..something to look forward to..only two things get larger as a man gets older..1 his prostate and 2 his ears.

Good joke ... A digital exam by an MD Urologist can detect not only just an enlarged prostate but if there are any deformities or 'bumps' which may be a cancer indication ... an enlarged prostate in an of itself is not an indication of cancer.

For thrilled and jazzbo, when I had the prostate physical the gp said ''yes it is very enlarged'' and the psa came back ''mildly elevated '' so I was prescribed pills to reduce the size of the prostate, however these pills also artificially reduce the psa level.

After over a year on them and having quarterly (but now meaningless) psa tests, a biopsy showed that there was cancer (from which I am now in remission), and before the treatment commenced the specialist said to me ''I must tell you that you never had an enlarged prostate, when he did the physical he must have had hold of your bladder--it's an easy mistake to make''.

Not sure of the moral of the story except that what can go wrong, will go wrong.

Incidentally it was the head urologist at Bumungrad who told me about the side-effect of the pills, it was news to the gp in the UK.

And also not a bad joke, fooled me too.
