Baby's Passport

Recommended Posts

various websites are useful but what is not clear is this. Does the fact that mother (Thai) and father (farang) are not yet married cause any problems in getting a Thai passport for baby born in Thailand? Thanks in advance

That depends on where you live.

In Bangkok you can go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Consular section on Cheang Wattana road (near immigration) or Bang Na and i believe Pinklao.

But Bangna is a good choice. All Thai passport offices are extremely efficient. It will not take longer than 30 minutes, including waiting time. The passport can be send to the home address for 35 baht.

Procedure detailed here: http://www.mfa.go.th/web/473.php?id=3167

As long as both parents sign there OK with it.

just signatures & the baby's birth papers mate....

if the baby is born in thailand... the baby is thai....

The baby must have at least one Thai parent and can be born anywhere in the world. If not born in Thailand he/she would need a birth certificate issued by the local Royal Thai Embassy.
