Reconralph
Is there any problem with renewing my non-oa (retirement) visa 6 weeks before it's due? I want to be traveling during the time when it expires.
fiddlehead
I believe the earliest you can renew is 30 days before expiration.
Lite Beer
An O-A Visa can only be applied for in your own country of residence. I think you are asking about applying for a 12 month extension of stay. Usually apply within the final 30 days of your current stay. They usually will issue earlier if you are travelling.

Tod Daniels
I think you have your visa terminology mixed up and perhaps are on a yearly extension of stay based on retirement instead of an O-A visa. Still, you might find this answer of interest as it is along the lines of your question about renewing an extension early due to being out of the country when your current one expires; Renewing an extension of stay early
