Pay Cash Or Check?

Checks do not seem to be the preferred mode of money exchange in Thailand. There are probably some very good reasons for the locals wanting cash in hand. The laws/enforcement of payment /credit against checks does not seem consistent and in some cases predictable.

Not knowing the amount, issuer of check, etc, others may give you a better feel than me. My large amounts, dealing in Thailand have always been via cash at a bank, letters of credit, whereas smaller amounts were cash in hand.

Never seen a cheque in Thauland, most farmers don't even have a bank account. With rubber cash all the way. Even the Government buyers rock up with15 mil plus and 4or5 guys with guns. If they run out of money they give you an IOU to collect the next day, Jim
