Stjohnm Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 (edited) You're better off with Sushi, there isn't much good quality, reasonably priced western food in Bangkok, the good ones are quite dear and are mostly the restaurants located in and around the 5 star hotels, but try http://www.restaurantsofbangkok.com/ Edited March 19, 2011 by Stjohnm
nowork114 Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Here ... http://www.neil.co.th ... but they are not cheap ... one of the best steaks in Bangkok
ChristopherWilliamsBKK Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Go to the Landmark. It is your birthday after all mate. P.S - your girl can eat the finest steak, and you can enjoy very fine sushi.. Problem solved!
Nisa Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Right on the corner of Soi 23 and Soi Cowboy is a place called The Old Dutch Restaurant that has very reasonable prices and a wide selection of Food both Thai and International. You can eat out on the porch and watch the action on Soi Cowboy or eat inside where you will never know you are near Soi Cowboy. Chances are you may go there for a beef steak but end up getting something else on the menu.
octavedave Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 (edited) Trajai Steak House in soi Ngam Duhpi ,Lumpini. Its a 5 minuite walk from the underground on Rama IV near Lumpini Park. They have all different steaks at great prices. The owner is very freindly . Ive been going there for about 6 years since he opened and always have a lovely meal. Edited March 19, 2011 by octavedave
Thaddeus Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Check-In Garden, Soi 7 Suk, not as ridiculously expensive as some places, but a really good steak, excellent range sauces (I like the Londoner mustard sauce) good live, but not too noisy, entertainment most nights.
maxman71 Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 No such thing as a 2 inch thick, Angus prime steak in BKK. BBQ one yourself or go to Singapore; Morton's in Singapore has the best steaks in the world outside the US or Oz. Period.
Ulysses G. Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 ... a really good steak, excellent range sauces (I like the Londoner mustard sauce) A good steak does not need any kind of sauce and it is a waste of a good steak to use one.

It's called variety UG, the last steak I had there, I ate half of it with a nice streak of sauce (not drowned in it) half without and the rest of the sauce went on the salad and jacket potato, loverly.
whybother Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Great American Rib Company http://www.greatrib.com Suk Soi 36. BTS Thong Lor, then short taxi trip down Soi 36 (just a bit to far to walk).
rixalex Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Chok Chai Steak House is pretty good. Short walk from Cowboy.
kurnell Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I have heard Artur in soi Tonson has good steak. I have tried all the above and Tenderloins and they all have their good and bad days. Also tried Prime at Millenium Hiton which was good, but the wine was incredibly expensive. Madison at Four Seasons was disapponting for steak though dessert was great.
smokie36 Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Go to the Landmark. It is your birthday after all mate. P.S - your girl can eat the finest steak, and you can enjoy very fine sushi.. Problem solved! 300 Baht.......just for the chips!
ericthai Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 ... a really good steak, excellent range sauces (I like the Londoner mustard sauce) A good steak does not need any kind of sauce and it is a waste of a good steak to use one. Correct!!!!
smokie36 Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 No such thing as a 2 inch thick, Angus prime steak in BKK. BBQ one yourself or go to Singapore; Morton's in Singapore has the best steaks in the world outside the US or Oz. Period. I just love this post. The poster clearly knows everything there is to know in the world which is steak related. Therefore I'll have to ask him....what did you think of Chadwick's in Balham? Steak is way overpriced in Bangkok. Take a trip to Samui and eat top quality for under 1000 Baht. Its a promise.
bonobo Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Chok Chai Steak House is pretty good. Short walk from Cowboy. I have to say I have tried them twice and was disappointed both times. The steak house at the top of the Landmark is excellent, but pricey. If you go on a Wednesday, the Home Run Bar and Grill has a two-for-one steak at about 1400 baht. It is thicker than what is usually offered in Thailand, and more akin to what you can get at a US steakhouse. Even on other days of the week, I think it is a pretty good steak for Bangkok.

Correct!!!! Nothing wrong with a dab of mustard, as long as it is real mustard of course, not that yellow namby pamby puppy pooh that Americans put on hot dogs. I wonder if that is why they are called 'dogs' Some people seriously do need to learn how to enhance or compliment the taste of some foods.
rixalex Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Chok Chai Steak House is pretty good. Short walk from Cowboy. I have to say I have tried them twice and was disappointed both times. You know what they say, horses for courses... or should that be cows.... Out of interest, in what way did they disappoint?
whybother Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Another place is Roadhouse Barbecue. http://www.roadhousebarbecue.com/ On Rama 4 just down from Silom.
Digitalbanana Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 >but she loves eating of the cow flesh. An unusual trait for GF's in Thailand I have found, if indeed she is Thai.

trogers Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Steak is way overpriced in Bangkok. Take a trip to Samui and eat top quality for under 1000 Baht. Its a promise. I have mine done at home. You can get choice US or Aussie beef at Villa for Bt1,500-2500/kg. I am more into Aussie lamb.
gotlost Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Good thing this thread is on Bangkok steak. If we added Chiang Mai steak we would add another 10 pages.
soundman Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Posts of a trollish nature have been removed from view.
bangkokburning Posted March 21, 2011 Author Posted March 21, 2011 i panned roadhouse cause did not look convenient. home run perfect save for not wed eves. trajai sounds like id give a try if i could get a 2nd 3rd on it. so outback by default. she can eat @ ruths if her visa comes thru. THX
theoldgit Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 The steak house at the top of the Landmark is excellent, but pricey. I have eaten steak in The Huntsman pub in the basement of the Landmark, and have always had a good one. I was told that the steaks are the same as those served upstairs, don't know if that's true but they are considerably cheaper even if a a tad smaller, and as I say very nice.
