My former state, which I won't mention, makes you sign a form certifying you are a currently a state resident when RENEWING your state license.

Suspect they wanted proof to be able to obtain tax payments. :whistling:

Rental car agreements a few years ago did require Americans to have a US drivers license (international was not accepted) and some states had it as law in a search I made - believe it may have changed somewhat in the two decades I have been away however. I know New Hampshire renewed the same for the 27 years I had there although was not living in the state.
