BANJARMASIN, INDONESIA (BNO NEWS) -- Indonesian police on Wednesday found and disposed another suspected parcel bomb in South Kalimantan province, the Antara news agency reported.

The suspicious package was left next to a luxurious residence in Kelayan Bubus Salam neighborhood in Banjarmasin city. At about 9:30 a.m. local time, a police bomb squad arrived and disposed it.

Banjarmasin Police Senior Commissioner Thayib Sik said that the suspected parcel bomb contained an unidentified fluid and powdered materials. The disposed parcel bomb was later found to be an explosive similar to firecrackers.

Police investigators are working on identifying those that left the package in the house. This was the latest bomb scare that hit Indonesia in recent days. In the capital city Jakarta, four parcel bombs have been located and a bomb threat was reported in the resort island of Bali.

Also on Wednesday, Jakarta metropolitan police agents were summoned after a suspicious package was received by Muhammadiyah University Rector Masyitoh Chusnan. No explosives were found.

In response to the bomb scares, security will be improved in Indonesian airports, as announced by Salahudin Rafi, director of operations at Angkasa Pura II, which manages Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

The measures will include stricter security checks for staff and passengers in airport terminals and on planes, tightening luggage screening and limiting the number of people allowed into restricted areas.

On March 15, a bomb parcel exploded in Utan Kayu, East Jakarta. The explosive device was sent to the local KBR 68H Radio News Agency and was addressed to the agency's chief Gories Mere.

The explosive package was delivered hidden inside a hollowed out book. A police officer attempted to defuse the parcel bomb with his bare hand after pouring cold water on it. However, the bomb exploded blowing off the policeman's hand at his wrist.

Another explosive package was located at the National Narcotics Agency office in Jakarta. The bomb was delivered by an unidentified man but a police bomb squad managed to deactivate it before it exploded.

A third parcel bomb was sent to Ulil Abshar Abdalla, chairman of the Liberal Islam Network, in Utan Kayu. The device exploded while a team of policemen was trying to defuse it; three police officers were severely injured.

On Thursday, a fourth explosive device hidden in a hollowed out book was sent to the residence of music mogul Ahmad Dhani in Pondok Indah, south Jakarta. All four bombs were concealed in the same way.
