Sudarat frets about Pheu Thai campaign in Bangkok

By The Nation

The Pheu Thai Party will be at a disadvantage to the Democrat Party during the election in Bangkok, barred Thai Rak Thai executive Sudarat Keyuraphan said yesterday.

"Voting in Bangkok hinges on the prevailing sentiment. Pheu Thai should revive Thai Rak Thai policies in order to compete with the Democrats," she said.

Sudarat said the Democrats claimed Bangkok as their political stronghold, therefore Pheu Thai had to carry out a well-prepared campaign to dislodge the main coalition party.

Thai Rak Thai policies had a proven track record and had great appeal for voters, she said, urging the Pheu Thai campaign to be ready in terms of platforms and candidates.

Should Yingluck Shinawatra, sister of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, run for the premiership, the party would have to form several teams of qualified individuals to back her in order to demonstrate the party's readiness to govern the country, she said.

She said the party must not confuse its campaign activities with those carried out by the red-shirt movement.

The mass movement could support the party but the mixing of the two's activities might hurt the campaign, she said.

Does that mean the Pheu Thai Party is going to renege on it's pledge to have the seven bailed Red Shirt terrorist suspects fill in as Pheu Thai Party party-list MP's?

It's only been a week or so since that announcement. Is this an indication of the sort of flip-flopping the Party is going to continue with?

If they want the support of the red shirts, doesn't that mean that they need to be mixed? Or will the PTP just ignore the red shirts once they are elected?

Blindingly obvious statement of the day. As Rubl touched on yesterday, denying the arson carried out by the reds, as they did during the latest shouting-match censure debate, won't win them many hearts in the city at all.

Would someone please point out to Khun Sudaret that only when Peau Thai comes up with a proper manifesto and chooses a leader who is experienced and legitimate and not the relative of a convicted criminal that the party aims to spring, will they have a chance in Bangkok where voters generally see through all the BS.

Agree.

Plus, is she just concerned about her personal percentage of the possible goodies?

Well she certainly was numbered among the most acquisitive and avaricious.
