Sorry Guys if this has been asked before, just want to check out the present situation!

I have friends in Northern Thailand, English and Thai and I'll be going to do some voluntary work at a local school in Chiang Saen, in November this year.

The immigration suggested I would need a multi-entry NON-Immigrant Visa, category O.

Reading some of the threads, would I apply for O "ED" or just O. I could get a letter from the school to support my application.

At the moment I think they are asking for 20,000 Bht evidence of finance, is that still the case.

How soon before the trip, do I need to apply for the visa.

I am 65 and in the UK.

I know this probably will have been asked before, however I know the visa rules change, so just wanted to check.

Thanks for being patient.

If must be an "O" visa and you should obtain as close to departure time as possible. A multi entry would only be required if you planned to remain longer than the normal 90 days of a single entry. You would still have to exit/return to get a new 90 day stay.

And yes, get a letter from the school to support your application for a visa based on volunteering. Apply by mail at Hull, their webiste gives all the necesarry details.
