Not long before this thread reaches 1,000 posts. Can't be many that have reached this milestone so quickly?

of course, because it is a very sensitive topic and if not a "1st April fool" an indication how far Farang think about Thai administration it could be happen.

If happen certain the effect will be 180 degree opposite.

As seen on another website quoting this OP:

http://www.happierab...opic.php?t=9964

Mr. S. this is pretty fuc_ked up. I wonder if all of ASEAN will be forced to do this after 2015? That would rule out any SE Asian country for guys over 50. They would have a hard time getting regular girls to date them unless they were promising an overseas marriage down the road. There would be more pay for play, that's for sure. Stupid politicians and radical feminism always trying to ruin a good thing...

Will this become Urban Legend?

Passing forever into the internet and popping up in forums world wide periodically and confusing the shit out of newbies for generations?

YEP!biggrin.gif

Is it possible this thread could be closed? Some people need saving from themselves.

Nah !! This is like watching a train crash in slow-mo ... but funny as well as horrific :)

And of course you can't look away

like a puppy in a car window going past the butchers!

It's funny how these things work.

The people constantly expressing their surprise, that the thread is still going, are outweighing, and becoming more tedious than the posters who are still believing the OP.

Perhaps their should now be a wave of people, ridiculing the people, who are still laughing at the people who are still believing the OP.

So you fell for it then?

I knew that the Thai politicians are stupid but that they are so stupid I never imagined........

I always imagined they were this stupid. Their ignorance and stupidity is on display every day in this backward country. First, to all the Thia numb nuts in Parliament, if you are really concerned about the retirement amount, just raise it for men who marry Thai nationals you idiots! It's a pitence to us anyway! The fact is, it just bugs the heck out of you that your women prefer farang of any age over your little shrink-wrapped package! You want to remain free to treat your women like crap and have them do all the work you are all to lazy or stupid (likely both) to do so you have time to play with little boys and ladyboys in your local brothels, drink your days away and gamble away what little baht you do have from whatever scam you were running . As far as the little fatherless bastards that might be created by an old farang who keels over before it's grown, I suspect the geezer will have provided for the wife and child much better than any Thai man is capable of doing. Also here is a heads up for you brain dead little MP droids, just because you all believe 400,000 or 800,000 is alot of money, to most farang of retirement age it is absolutely nothing, and I seriously doubt any farang ever married a Thai girl of any age with this thought in mind. So I guess it will still be perfectly ok for these impotent little lilliputions to cheat on their wives with these young girls or marry them themselves and abuse them. Thailand is a country on the decline in a big way and this will be another huge step towards its demise. Other than your women, you have little else to offer us and you will learn this lesson the hard way.

Guys, Again it is APRIL FOOLS DAY!!

best frothing rant of the thread...

Wow, I missed this one,

not just frothing, but foaming at the mouth and ready for apoplexy!

I've already said in another post, that as soon as I read it I was happy to believe it. I don't have a problem admitting that.

My point was more to do with people who making repetitive posts. The exact same post that 30 people before them have already made.

Each to there own. Just seems a bit pointless.
Very amusing, for the Thai government (yes, he is a minster, so a representitive of the government) referring to foreigners with less than 400,000 baht as a "burden" on Thai society. Tell me the ratio of Thais vs. Farang over the age of 50 with less than 400,000 in the bank?

This, if passed will be a huge economic blow for Thailand - a large percentage of Farang business owners in Thailand are 45+, and many buy those businesses and run it with their partner. Many own land with their partners. Most of these girls are not rich when they meet the "old burden" Farang. Infact, sadly most of these girls meet their Farang in the go go bars. Who was it that was the burden again?

I have never said this before, but this move really does look discriminatory against non-Thai nationals, and will be a huge blow both to the future development, educational and economic growth to Thailand if passed. Maybe Thailands politicians needs to learn when passing law, that you have the power to make the decisions but with that power you must execute vision, or your power is worthless and often destructive rather than constructive.
I dont mind Thai, like them more than westerners, they only too often drop kicks, deviant, rather give them a miss when in Thailand as i am able.

The preoccupation with booze, the grizzling and whinging not endearing.

Farang not always, but, in my experience often penny pinching and not given to generosity preoccupied with seeking advantage.

Not saying all Thai women are inocent but feel able to assert they learnt the ropes from the west.

Farang, can always go home or shack up else where but this their home and we aliens in it.

This proposed law and any thing limiting abuse sounds like a good idea to me and i am 54 yo.

Your just jealous, because the girls go after us oldies with money, not young, poor cheap charlies.Remember, money ,number 1.

having been here for over 10 years and now an oldie, i think Thailand was so much better when it was mostly over 50's who came here

since flight prices have gone down and its been noticed by the Ibiza set, its much the worse for it

i left England to get the bullet headed, binge drinking <deleted> out of my life and now they have followed me here

the sooner they find somewhere else to go, the happier i will be...........

At least they aren't as likely to marry Thai women and stay indefinitely.

I've lived in Thailand, on and off for 10 years, and I never remember a time when it was mostly over 50's??

Apart from soldiers, way back when, I would say it was young backpackers that put this place on the map. Places like Phi Phi were just a few bamboo huts on the beach, that the bird nest collectors used to live in, until the backpackers came.

I'm not condoning bad behaviour, it's embarrassing to be an English man abroad sometimes, because you are getting tarred with the same brush as all the retards that have gone before you.

However, frowning upon the younger generation in its entirety isn't the way to go. Fast track to being a grumpy old man, that can't keep up with the times. There are just as many good youngsters out there as bad, and <deleted> loads of 50 pluses, that I would love to see the back of. Getting drunk (and within reason) playing up a bit, is part of a normal lurning curve for youngens. Marrying a bar girl, and having children, refusing to learn any of the Thai language, treating your wife like a servant, the list could go on, is not normal behaviour.

There's good and bad across the ages, but given a choice, I'd take the younger generation all day long!

At least with young ones, you can kid yourself they might grow up one day, but with the daft oldies about, you realise they probably never will...

What's wrong with that? They're at an age where doing that is healthy. At least it shows a commitment to the relationship. They didn't just buy their relationship, they are fighting to make it work.

They're at an age where they have time for it not to work and both move on with some life experiance under their belt. (normally without any kids having been born) Not a last ditch attempt, on the back end of several failed marriages and several children left in their wake (I'm not talking about you personally)

All you old timers don't realise, a lot of you find yourself in this position as a result of previous failings. But because you move to a new country and start over, you think you have a clean slate, and are in a position to moan about the younger generation who are yet to make their mistakes.

well mostly they are staying here illegally or at least staying here against the spirit of the immigration laws

working selling stuff on the internet is still considered working and as many deportees have found out, it is still illegal and despite you advocating it is healthy and defensible , i suspect many of those now on an ever growing black list will disagree with you

i have found that at least amongst my friends that most of us are here because of previous successes, not because of previous failings

we had the forethought to work hard , plan out a financially secure future and thus can enjoy our early retirement in a sunny climate

because of that we have the money to be able do so, not just have the desperate desire and have to do anything to be able to do so

i can boast of no previous failed marriages, no kids, no debts to run away from, no re-start/re-invention required, no ditches to leap over

just a solid game plan to finish work early and live in the Sun

other places were considered, but Pattaya fitted the bill ten years ago as it was a relatively free living society with very few <deleted> to contend with

shame its changed...........
