Hi,

I saw an article on CNN today re polymer / plastic banknotes. Thailand introduced these a few years ago for the B50 notes. Then they pulled them. I thought they were great!

Anyone know why they stopped issuing them? You could even leave them in your shorts (if you had your own washing machine) and they'd be clean and undamaged.

I think it was due to the banks complaining about having to purchase new counting machines that wouldn't jam on the plastic notes. The polymer used was close to paper, but not close enough that the machines didn't have problems with them.

Far be it for the banks to actually spend money to buy equipment in order to benefit society. They are too busy collecting bonus checks so they can buy Porsche's for their children.

I am pretty sure Australia use the plastic notes, they are fantastic! can get wet, no problem.

Actually I still have one blue plastic 50 Baht that I keep as a momento. ......If any one wants it they can have it for .....well make me an offer......
