I believe the letter of Thai law is Any gambling not allowed & since the online experience is monitored I think that would be a no. You can still get odds on games & races but I think you will get hosed if you were to push your luck & gamble. The best way would be to have one of your family post for you back in the states or wherever you hail from, But I don't think that will help you out on poker unless you are taking a side bet on a another player.

OK. But how does the Royal Turf Club stay open? Sure seems to advertise betting there.

All the big poker sites used to be blocked by MICT but I just checked and they all seem open now, at last for me on 3BB.

I think you can assume that gambling is still illegal in Thailand, regardless if you do it online or offline, otherwise I'm sure we'd have heard about it! :whistling:

CRACKDOWNS

ONLINE

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) estimates that 80 percent of the Thai population was involved in gambling during the 2006 World Cup. And during ‘Euro 2008’ more than 1,000 people were arrested in Thailand for gambling on football matches, with nearly one million baht seized.

This tournament season the MICT is targeting online gambling transactions, having blocked 246 betting-websites on local and international servers just prior to the start of the matches. TOT, a state agency under the Ministry, is red-flagging telephone numbers for unusually heavy-use during the tournament in attempt to monitor and determine whether these numbers are involved in illicit gambling.

Thai police have conducted an online gambling raid in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand and they’ve arrested four individuals that are suspected of operating an illegal online gambling business. Owning or playing at any online gambling site is strictly prohibited in Thailand.

Its illegal in Thailand,.

Dont get caught up in this "letter of the law" point either, you are in Thailand, the law states and means whatever they or who is imposing it at the time. Dont think for one minute you have any chance of fighting anything, arguing a point, or trying to apply reason or logic, you would be wasting your time.

you are not gambling in Thailand you are gambling where the servers are based... I worked for MGM Casino on Bond casino that is why US gaming laws are having problems with blocking poker sites in the USA... This is the legal grey area that allows people from any state to play poker online.

If you are prosecuted you would be the first in any country so don't believe the <deleted> that some people tell you... but the odds are against you, and would you really play poker when you cant see the dealer?

I think were referring to hold'em here. There is no issue here in Thailand with online poker.

Use of Entropay allows easy deposits and withdrawals from Thai ATM''s.

Online Gambling in Thailand

Online gambling in Thailand is also forbidden. The Thai government does not provide licenses that would allow internet gambling websites to be hosted in Thailand. In fact, they have never even considered allowing for online gambling in Thailand since land-based gambling is mostly forbidden.

In spite of the ban on internet gambling the Thai government does very little to prevent players from using foreign online gambling sites. These websites are hosted in different countries, places where the Thai government has no jurisdiction. This means there is little they can do to prevent players in Thailand from using them. There are many online gambling sites that accept Thai players, though few are available in Thai.

Gambling is officially illegal in Thailand. There has been cases where people were arrested for online gambling in public areas such as internet cafes but of course it is difficult to monitor what happens in peoples homes.

Anyhow, Da Rulez are quite clear on the subject:

16) Not to post about gambling, betting, pornography, illegal drugs, fake goods/clothing etc and other activities that are officially illegal in Thailand.

hence this subject is
