Just moved from Hua Hin to Bangkok, not seen one in my apartment there the whole time I was there, 6months up. Now I moved into a nicer apartment / hotel (cheapish 5800 bht, but 1km away from MRT ) and I've killed 4 in one week. One was a big one and 3 were small, why am I getting them and how to get rid of them? I can't stand them, I've been here a week and like the apartment but I can't live with cockroachs springing up in my room.

My rooms clean but I never see them clean the building much just empty the trash ... my last apartment wasn't as nice and cheaper but they cleaned everyday ....

Oh and it's a 1 Bed / 1 WC with balcony apartment.

Seal up everything, cover your face empty a whole can, maybe two of spray killer, fire it into any cracks, behind wardrobes under sinks everywhere, go out for a few hours, there will be dead roachers everywhere when you come back, i did this myself once when i had the same problem, i could not believe how many came out of the woodwork and died

How long did it work for till you spotted another? Just the simple Bygon spray most use for mozzys?

I'll give it a shot, got a few cardboard boxs on my balcony (shame as I like to put tv etc back in box if i have to move) I will chuck and I will find a way to cover the two drains. Annoying really, never seen a cockroach in my life in the UK or Hua Hin and my apartment was hardly clean then. fuc_king things.

You might just have to move if the building is infested with bugs. Never had one in my apartment, aside from one that flew in through the balcony which I quickly killed.

I have seen other posts looking for Borax (sodium borate), I don't know where you can pick some up but it works wonders. For roaches just sprinkle some around your doors and in your cupboards.

Take care if you have a dog or cat around the house, while not toxic to humans not sure what it would do to your pets.

Also the best to get rid of ants, mix borax with sugar they eat it and it kills the colony. (Ants are either attracted to oil or sugar) so the best thing is borax with peanut butter.

I've got a bit of a phobia about the <deleted>*kers; like I say, it's a phobia I know they can't actually hurt me but they creep me out (my wife knowing about my former profession, my youthful tendency to get into fights, my motorcycle exploits etc thinks its absurd).

Anyway, in the 7 years I've been in the house I'm now in, I've never had cockroaches. Last night I read this thread and cringed a bit and went to the bathroom -- there was one of the bast*ards! And my wife wasn't home for me to call to kill him.
