Are you suggesting that people give deliberately incorrect answers?

No, i am only suggesting that there might be bored bad people that would be temted to give info that then is wrong, there are all kinds of people here some very trustworthy , and some that just use hear say, like guessing. I am sure you know there are good and bad people everywhere. Thankfully most are to be trusted here.

So you're not suggesting that people are deliberately giving incorrect answers, you are suggesting that bored bad people will be tempted to give information that is then wrong.

Sorry, I fail to see the difference.

Just wait a moment -- he may explain it to himself. Then disagree with the explanation!

Being facetious is not against ThaiVisa posting rules. Making jokes is not against ThaiVisa posting rules. Making what most others would consider as extremely stupid posts is not against ThaiVisa posting rules. So members who choose to go that route are certainly within their rights as agreed upon when they joined the forum.

Stupid posts are allowed??

Drats! I thought it was a requirement...

To the OP: your complaint is ridiglious. When I really needed it, I have found the site and its members helpful. For best results, do some basic research first, be specific, be polite, and don't expect miracles. Try giving back sometimes too.

I AM POLITE ALWAYS BUT, WHEN YOU CALL SOMEONE ridiglious. IS THAT THEN POLITE?

See, this kind of misconstruing (and unnecessary use of all caps) is how discussions deteriorate.

I didn't call you ridiglious, I said your complaint was ridiglious and by using the same offbeat word you used, there was an attempt at humor...Oh dear, I should've used a smiley. Good thing I have a day job.

But your complaint *is* ridiculous, and I say that without malice. You give no examples to support your claim.

Go to the computer forums, the DIY forums, Farming, Visa, Thai Language, etc, etc and you see people being helpful all the time. Your assertion simply does not stand and is an affront to the many good samaritans on this site who offer helpful advice and info.

Sure, the site gets it's fair share of clowns, trolls and nerdowells. They're easy to spot if we keep our brains engaged and if we've done some preliminary research before coming on to ask questions. If anyone comes on expecting full-service hand-holding, they deserve to be called out on their laziness.

This is a free site and I keep my expectations moderate. Yet, they have always been pleasantly exceeded. Your criticism, in general, is unwarranted, although I don't discount that you may have a specific complaint that may be. If so, that specific complaint is what you should address instead of generalizing.

That was yesterday. He's a new person today.

edit ... so we might be seeing a 3-way conversation soon. :whistling:

I am always polite, and i wish only for serious answers, extreamly stupid is to tell a newbie that he can just go to cambodian border and get 1 year visa, wich he wont get , just an example. but if you want to play around with wrong info, yes thai visa allows that. have fun.

Try reading the pinned topics first, then you won't get so easily waylaid. A sensible person shouldn't rely on just one particular post on an anonymous forum for any kind of decision. This should go without saying.

Excellent advice.

Thing is, the thread that he is complaining about (as fas I know) did not contain anything that can be construed as "play(ing) around with wrong info".

The poor boy's speaking to himself now.

Just wondering ... is it impolite to speak to yourself?

Not if you give yourself accurate info.

Jokes are ok, but pls try to understand that newbis CAN MISUNDERSTAND, your answer. Rules mean nothing if the allow members to give wrong info.

Are you suggesting that people give deliberately incorrect answers?

Why is it one many times gets un-polite replies to ones harmless questions (from even senior members) it is a hobby for some members here hehe perhaps i should make it my hobby to make others think this is not a serious site, why answer when you have only ridiglious things to say ? And nothing helpful?

Why didn't you say that in the OP?

OH pls.really it can happen that people think they know what the are talking about, heard from someone ? or just thought it was so, no i dont think they do that deliberately, but if you dont know it , some people think they know more than the really do.

Word salad. And freakin' cake. Now that's a balanced meal.

Because its easier to respond with some negative bull**hit than to have something constructive to say

seconded !! i usually get some very helpfull advice and tv is a brilliant forum but i see this everyday where a guy asks a completely genuine honest question and get only bu******t replies for no apparent reason just because these a******les got out of bed the wrong way bah.gif

the mods should be clampling down on these negitive replies , ok we all have our views but there are some replies that are just plain downright uncalled for. as i said in my previous posts , "if you have no constructive advise to give then dont give anything at all ".

Hear Hear to that. I think that the mods need to sharpen up on this !

... Do you think it's right that everybody else should have to conform to the wishes of the minority?

Is this still Thailand? Yes? Then I think you know the answer, mate

In fairness though, the same accusation could be leveled at pretty much any country masquerading as a democracy. England for a start ( seeing as it's home for me ).

That would apply to most so-called "Democracies"......masquerading as they do. Falsehood and delusion might be the only universal make-up that sets those characters.

I wonder why so many grown (?) men on TV use the expression, hehe. Is that like a giggle?

Cant a man giggle?

'he he he' is an evil insane cackle, not a giggle.

You want 'hee hee hee!' or even 'hee hee hee^' which is a bit more monty python.

Personally, I prefer 'shshshshshsh' which is more Muttley - or, when expressing frustration at taking a trip to Cambodia and not getting the visa you expected "suffrinsuffussuf"

Actually, probably better to say it with words.

I like a chortle too. Or even an occasional snicker. But a guffaw can be embarrassing at times...

I hate that; right in the middle of the prayers.... its bad enough sniggering during the sermon.

I'm rather partial to a good chortle myself.

Just stalking, what's a chortle ?

ho ho ho

Not to be confused with a jovial santa chuckle, which would be Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho

Or a slightly nautical salacious yoho!

I do agree that no adult should indulge in this "he he he" nonsense. It's pitiful. Really pitiful.

Almost as bad is "ha ha ha".

Actually, in Thai this is often represented as 555. The idea is that the number "5" is pronounced "ha".

Slightly worse is "555+++". This seems to indicate that the "ha ha ha" element is funnier than normal.

Worst of all, though, is "hu hu hu". It pains me greatly to admit that I've actually encountered "hu hu hu" from a girl here in Thailand who (briefly) I attempted to screw.

That's me OK then.

yes, but by sticking two pencils up your nose and muttering the word wibble is just a cop out and you know it . biggrin.gif
