Bodies found in Mexico mass graves rises to 126

MATAMOROS, MEXICO (BNO NEWS) -- Ten more bodies were found in a new mass grave in Mexico's northern state of Tamaulipas, bringing the total number to 126 bodies, officials said Wednesday.

Mexico's National Army transported ten more bodies found in a new mass grave located in San Fernando, Tamaulipas to the Medical Forensic Service in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, which borders Brownsville, Texas, at around 12:30 p.m. local time.

Preliminary Investigation chief Pedro Efrain Gonzalez of Matamoros' Attorney General's Office confirmed that the latest discoveries were made in the newly found mass grave.

However, Gonzalez told reporters that no further information was available, although future reports would be heard from state officials or national authorities located in Mexico City.

Last week, local authorities said they found the graves while investigating reports that passengers from a bus were kidnapped in late March. It is believed that they were people who refused to enlist within the ranks of Los Zetas drug cartel, but forensic investigators have not confirmed if the bodies are the missing passengers or immigrants.

On Tuesday, Tamaulipas state Attorney General's Office spokesperson told reporters that 32 bodies arrived early that morning. The bodies were later taken by the Mexican marines in two military vehicles to the premises where they will be identified.

Authorities confirmed on Monday that 16 bodies were found after Armando César Morales Uscanga, who was arrested on Saturday, provided information for the location of new graves. Morales admitted his participation in the killing and illegal burial of 43 bodies. Two bodies were then identified, including one Guatemalan citizen.

The Attorney General's Office previously released the photographs of the 16 detainees linked to the case, including two women, hoping that the population would recognize them from previous crimes. Most of the detainees have been reportedly linked to the Zetas drug cartel.

Last August, members of Los Zetas cartel killed 72 Central and South American immigrants in in the same municipality.

Due to the seriousness of the situation, the governor of Tamaulipas traveled to Mexico City to meet with Interior Secretary Francisco Blake Mora.

Sad what is happening in Mexico. I worked there from 92-94 and it was violent then. But over the past year, what is going on over there, is surreal and very very sad.

People think corruption is bad in Thailand. The Mexicans invented it!
