Hi,

I need to go to Penang for a new Non-Imm B as all my visa and work permit documents have expired and i'm now on a tourist visa. I'll be using one of the agents there as they have always made things go smoothly for me in the past. My question is, is the requirement for the receipt for your WP3 application enforced? I can't currently apply for my work permit as i have no teacher license or waiver at the moment, but would like to be on a Non-Imm B while i do my TCT tests.

If you have no legitimate reason to be issued a Non-imm B ( as in appears in your case) they may not issue you one...if you have no "paper work" which would justify it ie WP3, letter from employer etc etc...chances are they are not going to give you one

I will have all the paperwork except for the WP3 receipt. The rules have changed since i went for my last non imm b 2 and a half years ago. The WP3 receipt did not used to be a requirement. I'm asking if they are enforcing that rule or not i.e. has anyone applied for a non-imm b recently with all relevant paperwork except for the WP3 receipt?

What they are saying is that i cannot apply for a WP3 without a teacher license or waiver. However, i have been unable to get my 2nd waiver as the Thai Culture Course has been suspended for the past couple of months (another story on another thread), which is a pre-requisite for the 2nd waiver. I'm currently waiting to sit my TCT exams next month, to see if they'll accept that instead of the culture test. I would just like the above question answered.

You did not directly mention having any paperwork at all in your first post so can understand the confusion. If you indeed have paperwork do not believe W3 is required from teachers (and even others from some reports) for a single entry. But suspect you might want to contact one of the visa suppliers in Penang before making the trip if no first person reply is received.

I last went to Penang about 3 years ago, and the WP3 was a requirement then.

Oh well, it must have been a requirement last time i went and i didn't know. Thanks.

I went to Penang a little less than three years ago (for a Non-B visa) and I was never required to provide a receipt for a WP3. My visa came with no problem.

As a sidenote, Penang is a filthy dirty place with nasty guesthouses and it's not safe (no police or security to speak of). I would pick anywhere else to get my visa but Penang. Also, there are constant problems with getting visas from this consulate.
