Is it possible to get the 30 day visa exemption before using the second of a double entry tourist visa? Or is it required that the second double entry tourist visa be used immediately after the first one? I'm looking to:

1. Leave thailand after my first double entry,

2. On return apply for a 30 day visa exemption (would just not write the visa number in the entry-exit form) as I will be out of the country after two weeks for a few days,

3. Then on return would like to use the second double entry visa as I would be staying for 60 days.

If this is not possible, is re-entry permit required?

Appreciate any assistance.

If you have a valid visa it will be used by most immigration officers under current policy from recent reports.

A re-entry permit would keep your original 60 day permitted to stay alive if you plan to return before that time is expired and you could then do a normal 30 day extension if wanted.
