Rent A Motorbike In Koh Tao

Featured Replies

In August I will go to Koh Tao with my wife, and I will rent a motorbike (scooter) to reach different beaches.

I usually drive very carefully, so I hadn't any accident in the past (sgrat sgrat....).

I read about many motorbike renters that overcharge for damage, even if no accident happened.

I will follow good advices that I read on this forum (double check motorbike before renting it, make some photos, etc.), but could you reccomend some "honest renter" that you've tried?

In addition, do you think is better to book for a moto before arriving, or I will be able to rent the motorbike when I will be in Koh Tao?

Thanks in advance!

Go and get one from the Tatoo bar in Mae Haad. It is past the Songserm ferry pier and heading towards the Sensi resort. Very honest people and never had a problem there. It is where I get my bikes from when there. The bikes are also fitted with the off road tyres which are better for getting to some of the nicer beaches. They also do great food as well ;)

Thank you H2oDunc ! :jap:

Do you think I will find a motorbike for rent in August without booking it in advance (it seems they have not a website) ?

Thanks again ;)

Just be sure to point out any damage to the bike before you take it out. take a pic with a camera with the time stamp on it if you see damage and want to make sure you don't have to pay.

Very good advice SBK especially for Tao. I advised her to go here as they are very honest and the Burmese guy that takes care of the bikes is a diamond.

Sioux I am sure that if they do not have any he will be able to arrange one for you. If you would prefer to book one for piece of mind PM me with the dates and I will book it the next time I am over there :D

Thank you for the advice sbk.

Thank you very much H2oDunc: I will write you a Pm next days, when i will be 100% sure about dates in Koh Tao. :jap:

I can't wait to get to Tao ;)

The main problem that I found on bike renting on Koh Tao - they all wanted a passport to keep!

All I had taken with me was a copy of my passport plus my Thai driving license. The first couple of places insisted on a passport - the third one reluctantly accepted my driving license.

When I handed the bike back they spent 20 minutes comparing the bike with the photos on my camera. Well pizzed off when they could not charge me extra.
