Phra Gordan - Wat Tham Krabok

Featured Replies

Did anyone here know Phra Gordan? I was taken to his temple last year, but he was gone somewhere and never got to meet him. I was just talking about him three days ago and went to see if I could chat with him on e-mail and found out he died April 20th.

I met Phra Gordon on my first vist to Wat Tham Krabok in the mid 90s, and talked with him on a couple of subsequent visits as well.

He appeared to be one of the most tirelessly active monks at the temple, in terms of physical labour, keeping the saunas stocked with fuel and herbs, keeping the compound clean, doing repeairs etc. He also helped counsel for Western disciples and served as de facto spokesperson for visitors from the international media.
