I have a 1 year visa which I renewed on April 20 2011. I didn't notice that my 90 days report which I last did in January 2011 also ran out on the exactly same day, also on April 20 2011. I was not told by anyone at Immigration that I would need to file it, and since I had just given them the address on the same day when I made my new 1 year visa, I didn't think any further. Now some friends are telling me I should have reported my address as well even though I made my new 1 year visa, is that correct?

Does it count from the date of your last visa issued? Or from the date of your last report, no matter when you renewed the visa?

If that's the case, I'm at least 10 days late now. :(

They are correct.

The visa extension date and the 90 day reporting date are two completely independent dates and have normally nothing to do which each other.

I know that is very strange and not really logic but TIT. <_<

So it is possible that on the same day you apply/receive your new visa and that you have to do your 90 day reporting.

The only exception is, if you apply for the first time for the one year visa extension.

In this case the first time visa extension date is regarded as your 90 day reporting date.

Except from this first time exception your 90 day reporting date starts from last entry into Thailand or from your last 90 day reporting date.

All this according Phuket Immigration office.

It's not a visa, you have a one year "Extension of Stay", the first application counts as an address report, others do not.

Correct.

It has always been my understanding that your 90 document is one of the requirements for an extension of stay and therefore it is updated as a matter of course by the immigration staff. Have you looked at your 90 slip and determined that it was not updated? Mine always is.

I made the same mistake.

Extending your right to stay

does not count as

90 day reporting

Cost me a 2,000 baht fine (ouch) (but i guess that's how you learn = the hard way)

so

bring money

when you go report

No, the 90 day reporting paper is not part of the required papers for the extension.

In that case I suggest everyone keep it stapled in their passport and in that way it will always be there during an extension of stay. That's what I do and it has never been an issue. I always include my 90 day dates on my phone 2 do list and get several days of alarm warnings before the actual due date. The 90 day notification is certainly a pain but I have learned to live with it.

I had the same mistake of applying extension of stay and by mistake I assumed 90-days reporting was not need since I filed in Immigration - NO, they are two separated issues although in the same place.

I applied the multiple re-entry permit at the day of collecting extension of stay, and then I fly next morning. the Immigration officer saw this situation and warned me and re-state the procedure, and let me go. she is very kind !

good luck !
