My Visitor - an Indian Passport Holder

wishes to take a 40 day Holiday

Starting and Finishing in Thailand.

While here we plan to visit Laos or Singapore.

He will obtain A tourist Visa in the Thai Consulate in Chennai.

1. Are Double Entry Visas easily obtained there?

2. Are Re-Entry Permits available to Tourist Visa Holders?

(We are fully aware of Visas on Arrival.)

Thanks

With his travel itinerary showing the need for two arrivals in Thailand there is no reason why a Thai consulate should deny him a double entry visa, but is is difficult to say for sure since some consulates seem to act as if they were a law unto themselves.

Regarding re-entry permit, yes, this is possible after arrival in Thailand with a tourist visa. A single-entry re-entry permit costs 1,000 Baht, a little less, I believe, than a second entry of a tourist visa.

Yes you can get a re-entry permit on a tourist visa ( TR60 ) but don't forget that you don't get any extra days. The original date ( of stamp in your passport from immigration ) will stay the same after you come back when you used the re-entry permit. ( 60 days from first entry )

From personal experience (but non-Indian), Chennai insist on having a full itinerary (not just flights into Thailand) for even a single entry TV. :(

After discussion with the consul I got a single entry TV by showing only the return half of a BKK-BLR-BKK ticket, but there was no way he was going to issue a double.

If you have all your flights sorted then a double should be no problem.

Thanks for the Replies

Crossy - a year ago an Indian friend applied thru a Travel Agent for a Thai Tourist Visa

Chennai Consulate gave a Double Entry although it was not needed.

HOWEVER we guessed this was a Scam by the Travel Agent

because at that time Single Entry Visas were FREE

and this gave the TA a chance to over charge !!!

Is it still 60 days for Indian Passport Holder?

I thought it had been reduced to 30 ?
