Buying Phone From Thailand? And Other Questions

Featured Replies

I'm currently in the US right now, and I'm interested in buying a Blackberry/iPhone from Thailand, Since I'm going to be moving back there in a few months. Any website where I can buy it online and have it shipped to me?

Also Why isn't there a lot of Android phone there? Will there be more Android phone in Thailand in the future?

Thanks! :D

Krob khon krap!

It seems like most of the Blackberry handsets I see here are from T-Mobile or AT&T. ;)

Not sure about iPhones, I think better to buy an official international unlocked model.

Do you know which network you might want to use in Thailand? Did you plan to use 3G? Do you know where you will be living? If possible get a AT&T Blackberry (eBay) with 850/2100 Mhz 3G to be safe.

There are plenty of Android phones available here.

Personally I would wait to buy the phone here, or buy one in the U.S. and bring it here. Buying it here and shipping it to the U.S. seems convoluted.

thaimobilecenter is a good place to start --> http://www.thaimobilecenter.com/catalog/BlackBerry.asp

Dont forget any phone you purchase here that has a keypad it will be cluttered with Thai fonts, buy in the US and bring here and have it un-locked, should also be cheaper in the US as well.

Grey market BB's here (from T-Mo/AT&T) have U.S. keyboards, but since it is so cheap and easy to replace a BB keypad, Thais obviously opt to replace it with a BB keypad which also has Thai characters. Most smartphones have virtual keypads so easy to have many including one for Thai. Phones with hard QWERTY keypads can generally be replaced with whatever keypad you need.

But yes, other than the iPhone, I would probably buy an unlocked phone in the U.S. That's what I did; Samsung AT&T Captivate.

I'm planning to use either true or dtac service, but I'm not sure yet. So I'm planning to buy the phone in Thailand instead, since I want Thai fonts also. and Can I use the BB or iPhone on Pre-Paid?

Thanks!

Can I use the BB or iPhone on Pre-Paid?

Yes. AIS/One-2-Call, DTAC/Happy and TrueMove all offer pre-paid BB and iPhone packages.
