Four shot at New York nightclub

2011-05-08 01:29:04 GMT+7 (ICT)

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) -- Four people were injured on early Saturday morning when a gunman opened fire at a nightclub on Long Island in New York, police said.

The shooting happened at around 3.31 a.m. local time at the Oxygen nightclub in Rocky Point, a hamlet in Suffolk County on the North Shore of Long Island. Police responded after a person at the club called 911.

Suffolk County police said officers arrived at the scene a short while later and found three women with gunshot wounds. Another victim, a man, was taken by a friend to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson before police arrived.

The three women, two of whom were shot in the leg and the other who was shot in the foot, were transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center by Rocky Point Ambulance. The man, who was shot in the leg and his torso was grazed with a bullet, was later also transfered to Stony Brook University Medical Center.

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating the incident, but no arrests were made as of Saturday afternoon. The motive for the shooting is also still unknown.

I've often wondered why ThaiVisa didn't cover Suffolk County news more thoroughly.

Have you noticed that this is posted in the WORLD NEWS section????????blink.gif

Not to mention Thai visa being in English, which means forum for expats many of whom MAY have come from Suffolk County

Oh relax. There is nothing in the story that would place it on a level of world news and the percentage of people reading ThaiVisa who would possibly be interested in anything happening in Suffolk Country, let alone this particular event, is miniscule.

...many of whom MAY have come from Suffolk County

Then why not have news coverage for any trivial event that occurs in every location on the planet where readers MAY have come from?

It barely qualifies as "news."

People get capped in bodagos almost every weekend in NYC.

It's part of the attraction of the NY metropolitan area. That, and the bed bug epidemic.

Is Suffolk County really considered part the NYC metropolitan area?

I think part of Suradit's point is that this is some random incident in some suburban club, something you'd read about in a local semi-professional paper and a bit amusing to make it into the World News.
