I'm wondering if anyone has gone to get a re-entry permit at the new small Nonthaburi Immigration Office? I need to go get one tomorrow and I'm not quite sure whether I should go to the Immigration HQ at Chaengwattana or the Nonthaburi Immigration Office. I live around Samakkee Road near Wat Bua Kwan in Nonthaburi and have a car, so I suppose I can get to either one quite easily (thanks to the posters who provided detailed instructions and GPS coordinates in another thread here)... I reckon the Main Immigration at Chaengwattana is closer in terms of distance, but probably involves much more waiting around.

Just want to make sure they issue re-entry permits there to avoid making a long trip for naught. Obviously you'd think any "Immigration Office" would do it, but having lived here for about 13 years I am too familiar with the TIT phenomenon to take anything for granted.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

If you live in Nothaburi, you must apply at Nonthaburo immigration.

Re-entrry permits are again availeble at the airport (06:00 till 24:00 only!).

Thanks Mario. I will be leaving from Don Meuang (domestic flight, the leaving Thailand bit will be down in Langkawi), not sure if they issue re-entry permits there too? And anyway I'm travelling with my wife's family and my father-in-law is super organized so I want to show up prepared rather than run around trying to get a re-entry permit that same morning :)

I guess it will be a trip down to the already infamous Nonthaburi Immigration in the middle of a rice paddy tomorrow. Wish me luck.

The Nonthaburi Immigration Office is definitely a post card type picture out in the middle of the rice field after the drive down the small soi very closely bordering a canal to reach the office. For me it's only about a 15 minute drive away, but since I live within the Bangkok city limits (western Bangkok) I must use CW. But CW is a pretty efficient operation now, plenty of parking, lots of stores in the complex, air conditioned, etc. I kinda enjoy my every 3 month visit/drive to CW to see what has changed in that part of town, what's going on with any special events in the CW complex, etc. Heck, the wife even likes to go on the visit a couple times per year. Yea, I know I could mail in my every 90 day address report, but as mentioned, I kinda enjoy the trip to CW. Sure wish Thai Immigration would allow a person to use the closest office, but they don't...got to use the office for the province you live in. I expect you'll be in-and-out of the Nonthaburi Office with your re-entry permit well within one hour....just watch out driving on that small soi to the office...if you go off the soi a foot or two you'll end-up in the canal. ;)

Cheers Pib, I'll try to keep the Adventure Master on the road  Just tried putting the coordinates provided in one of the other threads into my Garmin and looks like it will take me there. Will have the turn-by-turn instructions on hand as well.

I live on Wat Bua Kwan, and used the Nonthaburi Immigration office last month to do my 90 day and also get a re-entry permit. There were about 20 Burmese workers outside but there are some girls from SBAC in there learning about the job (Internship) and everything went super fast, in and out within 20 minutes, most of the time was spent waiting for the SGT Major as he was alone at the time, then the boss came in and signed everything and off I went.

Thanks a bunch Beano, that's excellent info. I just realized I've failed my 90-day reporting duty yet again, haven't done anything since my last 1-year extension in January. I've never been very good about it, but last January was the first time thirteen years that I've actually had to pay the fine. I guess tomorrow might be the second time, we'll see.

I think you will be dipping your hand in your wallet, the Students were very efficient, and were carefully examining the 90 day reports, even using their fingers to calculate if it was in the allocated time period.

And from what I have seen they get oh so excited when they spot someone who has missed or forgotten their 90 day window.

I still dream that one day we will be able to report online.

And well they should as they have just earned their weeks pay with a 2000 baht fine. Well, on their way to graduating to tea money collections. ;)

Some Internship students get paid, some don't. In the company I work at Students get 200baht per day. So if they find it the Immigration Officers are happy as it has paid for the students salaries.

No re-entry permits at airports, except at Suv.

Any way, as requested: good luck!

Time for an update. Found the place easily, the ol' Garmin was spot on with its instructions for once. Was directed into the room on the left where one of the student workers gave me the form to fill and then took my payment. I was told to wait there while the re entry permit request was processed in the other room. 15 minutes later they called my name and handed me the passport with the re entry stamp. No questions asked about the 90 day report (non-B extended in early January, hadn't reported or left country since) so I guess I just got lucky again.

No issue with the 90 day report at the border (Lipe-Langkawi boat) either.

Will have to go back to Nonthaburi Immigration next week to get a certificate of address to renew my driving licence... Should have thought of that last week, bugger. Oh well, at least I know how to get there now.

Interesting.

Just wondering if it's easy to find the Immigration Office(?) that issues these things within sprawling Swampy?

I understand it's open from 6AM to midnight?

In the interest of time-planning, does the approval process normally take long in Swampy?

.... Thanks :D

best you get a re-entry permit before you leave then, as am sure it is just a border crossing and they do not issue Re-entry permits

The desk was actually in the Immigration Departure Hall before you actually get to the IO's, I don't if it's still there.

As Beano, and others, have said it's better to try an get one before you can get to the airport if you possible can

As for arrivals, some people have reported sailing through whilst others have had long waits, luck of the draw I suppose.
