It's just off New Petchburi Road and probably about half way between Petchburi MRT & Chitlom BTS, probably nearer Chitlom.

okay , thanks.

Gee man just take a cab.

You can't visit Bangkok without seeing one of the largest markets in the world. The Chautuchak Weekend Market and it's located on Paholyothin Road. You can get there by sky train or the underground too. Be prepared for lots of shoppers and lots of merchandise.

cheers for the reply.

i'll be heading up thailand on th 24th jun fri, but sadly i'll arrive at bkk at 5.30,

So aft all the travelling to hotel and checking in, i guess it will be ard 8plus.

so does u guys have any recommendation on which night market should i visit ?

5.30 is just about perfect. Give you time to settle in unpack and get ready to go shopping.

I'd head straight for Rainbow 4 they sell all sorts of goodies in there and is one of the better night markets.

Just hail a taxi and ask them to take you to Nana Plaza and you'll be there in short time before you know it.laugh.gif

If you're coming on a Friday night, then you should catch the Airport Link City Line train to Ratchaprarop station. Then a quick taxi ride to your hotel.

Here is the area on google maps. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=P2+Boutique+Hotel&sll=13.723419,100.476232&sspn=0.728407,1.234589&ie=UTF8&hq=P2+Boutique+Hotel&hnear=&ll=13.751787,100.543163&spn=0.01138,0.01929&t=h&z=16

Chitlom would be only just within walking distance, down Soi Chit Lom (nearly opposite Petchaburi Soi 33) to Rama I (extension of Sukhumvit). Not too far, but too hot.

thank u all for your enlightment.

Anyway aft i touch down n friday evening. Good time to head to kao san market to go shopping?

what u guys suggest?

cheers :)

Lumpini Night Market if it's still there.

Sad to say that it is history now. Too bad- was a great place to spend an evening, and was always popular when I have visitors from home.

night markets suck although i know there are a few 2nd hand markets more fun.

stay away from pat pong sure!

just go to chatachuk. the ride on the mrt from petchaburi will be easy for you.

cheers bro, cos my main objective this trip is to shop.

therefore, still cracking my head om where to do night shopping on the fri then i reach.

anw, where is the 2nd hand market u were refering to?

If you are shopping for a specific type of thing(s) you also might go to the neighborhood that sells such things. I don't know how clued you are into Asia but sellers of a particular product tend to group themselves together. And don't rule of big-box stores for tourist kitsch and bulk items.

Trouble with the 2nd hand stuff is that this is a poor country so its mostly junk.

My gf says the market up at Rachada is finished. Kong Tum (sp) market near Hualaompong is the only one other one I can think of. There is another place with a group of 2nd hand shops but I cant recall the areas name off hand. This will be full retail anyway.

You can also try Pattaya T-F market.

stay clear from patpong. again. overpriced, pickpockets, tourist junk.

stay away from khao sarn road unless you are after silver jewellery.

have a good look around Chatachok market, its not as big as people make it out to be. loads of swap meet /flea markets in California way larger.

thank u all for your enlightment.

Have a feeling you will stay in BKK only one night, before you move on.

Is that right?

Seems like you are eager to go shopping as soon as you are off the plane.

Anyhow, your trip is mainly only for shopping purposes (as you stated)?

May I ask where you fly in from?

Reason for question is, if you fly in from other side of the globe to shop in markeds/2nd hand markeds, then the stuff you bring home will be expencive.

;-)
