Hello

I have a multi entry non o. I do the visa runs every 3 months. I did not realize that when I re-entered Thailand last time the clerk only stamped me for a 30 day stay.

I am not in Thailand at the moment. My next visa run ( or return in to Thailand; this time) will be my 4th on this multi entry non o (issued june 2010). I will get the final 3 month extension on this multi entry non o.

Am I going to have issues at Suvarnabhumi because of the misstamp or will the clerk remedy on the spot?

Also, if I may, can I still switch to the baht in the bank option at the end of this final 90 extension. I don't want to do these visa runs anymore but I still need multi entries>

Thanks in advance

1. On your next arrival in Thailand you will have no problem at the immigration desk because of the wrong (too short) period of permission of stay you were given on your previous arrival.

2. Your next arrival in Thailand being with your valid multiple-entry non-O visa, you will be allowed to apply for a one-year extension of stay for the reason of living with your Thai wife. Apply any time during the last 30 days of your permission to stay; best not to leave it until the last moment.

...still need multi entries...

After you get your extension of stay and if you plan to travel internationally, get a re-entry permit from the immigration office before you leave Thailand. The fee is 1,000 Baht for single re-entry, 3,800 Baht for multiple re-entries during the extension period. You can apply for this during the same visit to immigration when you get the extension.

For marriage extension of stay he must have the final stamp before getting the re-entry permit as it is only valid for the current permitted to stay time. After you get that final stamp get a multi re-entry permit and you will be good to go for the time of the extension of stay.

It seems you may misunderstand the multi entry visa from your mention of 4th entry and worry about a previous 30 day stay - the number of entries is unlimited but none can be more than 90 days (which is the normal stamp time). So you could travel every week and return for a 90 day stamp each time.

Hmm

Thanks all

I was in Thailand for 9 months straight and did 3 visa runs. I didn't think I'd be there that long so I never went to my embassy to get the letter stating that I have enough money per month.....

This upcoming entry into Thailand will be kinda like my 4th re-entry of a visa run. I was thinking that I only will have 90 more days remaining on the multi entry non O Thai Visa I received in June 2010 (15 months total).

During the final 30 days of this final permission to stay period (of my June 2010 Thai Visa) I will have to get that letter from my embassy and go to the local immigration to set up one of those visas where I only have to report every 90 days instead of leaving the country.

I guess from what LB3 wrote, the new visa I get in September 2011 will not be a multiple entry but I can get re-entry permits before I travel internationally ( but the new visa will be the report every 90 days type instead of leaving and re-entering every 90 days).

A report every 90 days (in country) non immigrant O that is also a multiple entry visa would be ideal.

Does this Thai Visa option exist?

Thanks again

In September, you will not get a new visa but you will apply for a one-year extension of stay. The immigration office will stamp your passport to say that your application is under consideration and that you must report to the office again on a certain date, usually 30 days later (example), at which time the one-year extension will be stamped in your passport (example). Then you will have to start doing your notifications of staying longer than 90 days. You will have no more need for visas, just once a year your application for a new one-year extension of stay.

Does this Thai Visa option exist? ...

The 90-day notification is free of charge, the re-entry permit is subject to a fee. Anyway, there is no link between the two, only between the extension of stay and the re-entry permit. The re-entry permit allows you to travel to Thailand during the period of extension of stay and on arrival you will get permission to stay until the expiration date shown on your extension stamp, which has been copied onto the re-entry permit. Example of arrival stamp when arriving with a re-entry permit and indicating the re-entry permit number on the arrival card in the field for the visa number:

In the above example, the passport holder arrived on 27 AUG 2008 and had an extension of stay expiring on 15 MAR 2009 plus a re-entry permit valid until 15 MAR 2009.
