Ford have never realy made a "Bloody Hell, thats Nice" since the Capri.". the Fiesta Sport looks balanced, but the Arse Hi look on the Focus doesnt, my Wife said So...... Dont Argue. The Proton looks nicer to me.:whistling:

What about the 2005-06 Ford GT?

Photos could never do it justice - in the flesh it was a beauty!

Lost me there, do you mean the G.T.40.?.Cost a tad more than a Capri.Clarkson had one once.

Capri a nice car?! Maybe that has to do with the generation you are from. Pretty looks but no go. Suited hairdressers trying to look a little macho.

If you are going to go for a sporty Ford, at least go for one of the ones with half decent performance. Sierra Cosworth for example.

IMHO Capri was a total joke, even with the 2,8i V6 at 160 hp. With rear leafsprings and simple front suspension it handled like a shopping trolley, and on slippery roads it couldnt keep up with a Fiesta 1,1. At least not my aunts Fiesta when I used it

Was it the Popular or the Popular Plus?

I had just crashed my Granada 2,8 and was waiting to take delivery on a BMW528i, hey makes it 1982, BTW even Granada handled better than Capri :whistling:

No, the Ford GT- the GT-40's successor. The original GT-40 predates the Capri..

Lovely cars, i have a Focus. Crap servicing. I can only recommend you do not buy any new ford in thailand. When it goes wrong you will suffer. Even the simplest repair becomes a major ordeal. I'm sure many other Ford owners will tell you the same.

Nidge.

I have a 2007 Focus Ghia. That is the loaded top of the range model with a 1.8 liter engine. I bought it from the dealer in Loei and consider their service excellent. It put the fun back into driving for me. It corners like it is on rails.

ADDED - I was upset when they brought out the diesel in 2008. Had I known, I would surely have waited.

Will the new ford focus be essentially the same as that being sold overseas? The new petrol engine is 125KW (close to 170HP), with 6 speed powershift:)

Most likely, yes - but nothing at all has been confirmed for TH at this stage.

When it releases in TH it'll be in sync with a global minor change for the model though, so there's a (remote) possibility we might even see an ecoboost engine make it into the TH range (the current 1.6L ecoboost makes up to 182HP and 270NM with overboost)

That would be cool - and the 2.0 ecoboost gives over 200HP. These engines are already available overseas but what would be the impediments for introducing them here? Would it significantly increase the price of the vehicles past what consumers would willing pay for a ford here?

as long as TH cars excicetaxes are based on engine displacement and fuel compatibility (ethanol, CNG), and 1,6/182 hp cost more to manufactor than 2,0/145 hp, it is not likely these engines will reach TH. If TH chooses to follow Europe where taxes are more and more based on emission, we will se them here

Yep, it all hinges on whether the new carbon-based excise tax rules being kicked about make it into leglislation - if so, the further excise tax reduction of 5% on low CO2 cars would make something like the 1.6L ecoboost a potential starter. Unfortunately, even with carbon-based taxes in TH, the archaic capacity and HP thresholds will remain in effect, so the 2.0L ecoboost with it's 240HP will never see the light of day in Thailand.

An E85 compat, low CO2 car could potentially qualify for up to 13% excise tax reduction under the proposed rules though - so that could make for some interestingly priced 219.9 HP cars ;)
