They are living unhealthy lifestyles. But what is worse is they are living in a cesspool that is filled with some of the most unhealthy air imaginable. It is a perfect-storm-double whammy! And the undertaker is smiling :)

Indeed. Most of the girls in my office admit to only getting 5-6 hours of sleep a night. They're busy 'playing Facebook' as they say.

Most drink milk instead of eating food for certain meals. I don't think many of them exercise regularly, and basically they sit on their asses all day looking at a computer screen.

City living, hey!

Yes, it's the effects of what they assume is a "wealthy western lifestyle". When I grew up in the U.S. in the 1960's and 1970's almost no one I knew, except for those who played on high school or college sports teams went to a Gym to "workout". That's why my generation in so overwieght/obese/downright fat. At least today in the U.S. many of today's generation DO go to "workout" regularly.

Hopefully the Thais will also change their attitude soon too. I and my Thai wife have to fight a continuous battle with her teenage daughter that Kanoom and sweats are not a proper meal. The advertisements on Thai television don't help.

American food has never been what most people would call "healthy." But I do think the biggest change--at least since computers became popular--has been more time sitting on one's ass staring at a computer screen (like I am doing now) and more access to "fast food". Certainly Thais eating Western food leads to obesity. I see no change in Thai eating habits except bad changes. Also, poverty, which seems to be increasing all across Thailand, leads to obesity. Poor Thai people tend to eat a lot of those deep-fried, greasy hot dogs you see all over. I see many very young kids now who are fat, fat, fat (too bad).
