Need Recommendation For A Computer Technician

Featured Replies

I am moving to BKK soon from another part of Thailand and bringing my PC etc with me.I am changing ISP from TTT to TRUE internet so the settings on my computer will need to be changed . Can anyone with a similar experience recommend a good company in the Bangkok area who can send a technician to my home?

Thank you.

Mods: I think I will get a better response if this is in the BKK forum.

I should think if you are moving to True they will provide a router so its not so much your computer that needs configuring as the router and True will often provide an engineer if you take out a contract with them. I am assuming that you are going for broadband and not dial up.

I found the router that TRUE provided was of such low quality and so undependable that I soon went to FORTUNE TOWER (Rama-9 MRT) and bought a decent replacement; in my case, a ZyXEL; about B2000.

Set-up was not that bad. Instead of just relying on the provided instructions which were written for IT pro's, I went to an internet shop and GOOGLED my model number with "Set-up" added. I printed out a lot of very helpful hints and things went quite smoothly.

I have worked with a Thai guy named Woody who used to work in Singapore and speaks pretty good English. He has a shop in Pantip plaza but you could call him and see if he can help. He seems to know what he is doing.

good luck

I'm the best computer technician I've ever met and I've met a few over the past 30 years - on all continents.

I'll do it for 1000Bt call-out including the first half-hour on-site and 2000Bt per hour, thereafter. Should only take 20minutes and will install the best anti-virus/internet security currently available at the same time and will even end up being a *mate (*pal/buddie if you're American).

Looks easy so barring unforseens, should be 1000Bt, dead.

But you'll have to wait until I'm next over, in November.

;)
